I contacted another guy doing this service. He quoted me $1,000 for the CF dip & custom paint (I was going to do the EBII like in the other post).

I think a REAL CF cover would cost $1,000. $275 is more palatable. heh heh

This is a great - and fair - price. Another guy who does this same treatment quoted me (cough) $1000 for the dip & estoril blue II paint. Yes, you read that right. Granted, that included something like $250 charge for the cover itself - but still an outrageous price.

I got my side skirts, rear valance & front splitter painted (the latter 2 painted with dual colors) at a professional shop for $700.

Well I don't want to jack a thread about painted engine covers with pics of my car. I do have pics of it posted though here:

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showt...ghlight=flying

I am going to be painting my engine cover myself. I just bought the primer, EBII base coat & clear coat, along with the necessary fine-grit sand papers & polishing compounds. I'll post pics of that when my lazy ass gets 'round to it.

Any issues with the heat generated by the engine causing damage to the cover?

Here's a couple shots of my dipped engine cover from last year. We put a base white coat on the cover then dipped through a walnut pattern. Love the way it turned out.
