F23 Uniden R7 Mirror Tap?

Hey guys so I have an R7 for 2.5 years in my previous car but recently after collecting this awesome go kart of a car, it looks funky with how small and angled the windshield is. I was thinking of doing a mirror tap but one of the technicians at my dealer says not to as a warning for some cars that had taken some kinds of damage by doing so.

Has anyone ran into issues doing a mirror tap?

I installed a mirror tap for my Valentine V1 on my 2019 F23 and my experience was pretty much as this user described in a previous post: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...&postcount=109

The black molex plug shown in the instructions was just too loose and my V1 would not stay powered on all the time - the mirror tap connections fit much more snug in the smaller, red plug above the black one. The connections were almost too tight when I was installing it and I was afraid for a moment I was going to break the mirror tap or potentially damage some wires in the red plug, but eventually I was able to squeeze them in and it has worked flawlessly for the last 8 months or so since I got the car; I'm not sure if the technician you spoke to is referring to damage to the wires/plugs or something else like the trim pieces around the mirror.

Also, the other user I referenced above mentions having to unplug his radar detector because that connector is powered on all the time, but I've found that mine will power off on its own 10-15 minutes after I leave the vehicle. Hope this helps.

The red connector is what I was advised from multiple folks, and that is the rain sensor connector I believe.

The power thing is normal from my experience, it is for just a few minutes correct. My R7 does it while its currently plugged in the cig lighter.

I have had a V1 mirror tapped for 6 years now. No trouble at all.

Of course who knows what that tech has seen. There is a lot of dumbass out there.

I've had a mirror tap for some time although every once in a while it will randomly disconnect as if something is loose. I just ordered a fixcamx dash cam though so while I'm installing that I'll go ahead and replace the mirror tap wire with a new one.
