My last car was a Honda Fit MT, which I bought when my old 325 bit the dust. It was tons of fun, more a go-kart than a car. I handed it down to my daughter when I got the 235 and she is still driving it, though not nearly as hard as I did.

Even though I would definitely say my tastes have improved, I LOVED that first raggedy Maroon wagon. We got that car to 250K miles before getting rid of it, and even then we were able to drive it onto the tow truck to take it away.
1993 Ford Taurus Wagon (Inherited) 1998 Acura 2.3 CL 2007 Mazda 3 GT 2016 BMW M235i I've got an old Ford Ranger beater I drive in the winter / to work occasionally, but the Bimmer's the daily driver once all the salt gets rinsed off the roads up here. |

Wow, this is going to be a long list... from first to current in order of acquisition! This does not include my wife's cars...and she has had a few cool cars as well...
72 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe 72 Fiat 124 Spider 71 Fiat 850 Spider 75 Olds Starfire 73 Triumph TR6 76 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV 72 Datsun 510 2Dr w/ factory tachometer 76 Plymouth Arrow (the 1.6 liter, couldn't afford a Fire Arrow) 85 Ford Escort 86 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo 89 Mazda 323 (the 1.6 liter) 74 Fiat 124 Spider 62 Alfa Romeo Touring 2000 Roadster 91 Mistubishi Galant VR-4 88 BMW 325i Vert 88 BMW M5 02 Saab 9-3 70 Fiat 124 Spider 01 Audi S4 95 Ford F150 Long Bed 97 K2500 Brute Squad Truck (7.4L Big Block, a real animal but the frame attracted aggressive corrosion...) 97 BMW Z3* 01 Toyota Tundra Long Bed* 08 BMW 550i 16 BMW M235* *Still have in the corral... All had standard transmissions except the K2500 and my current DD, the M235. Probably forgot a couple along the way. My top three are the E28 M5, Datsun 510 and my first car, which taught me more about vehicle dynamics and physics than I deserved to understand at a very young age. My Dad deserves the credit there; I had a muscle car lined up for purchase and was strictly forbidden to buy; he picked the Fiat out. I am forever grateful for his insight. He was a very wise man. Unfortunately, each of the American cars on the list (Starfire, Escort, Omni) was more or less a POS in my experience (especially the GLH, which spent way too much time at the repair shop, I should have bought the GTI but the torque steer in the Omni won me over), so they are at the bottom of the list in terms of preference. Fun trip down memory lane.

Just a general comment to everyone on the thread...some pretty cool cars on the list here.
It is fun to see the wide variety of automobiles on this list. We have a pretty cool group of folks here on the 2 Addicts forum. Salute!

I counted six Oldsmobiles among the first 33 posts, which is not a lot, but it's six more than one might expect!

LOL...Good Observation Stick!
FWIW, mine was my rally car at the time. Had about 1.2M candlepower on the front end and an alternator out of a Caddy limo. Decent enough rally car (won several events Class C and a couple of overall wins) until the brakes got hot. Then... no brakes... rigged up an an old foot pumped windshield washer fluid bottle (from a junked '62 Plymouth Fury) with water and put the spray nozzles on the front brakes to cool them off to prevent failure; nothing like spraying water on a red hot rotor...! I can say from experience, this was not one of my most brilliant ideas but it helped a little I guess..experiences with brake fade I am not interested in repeating...LOL.

One of my many "classics" (tongue in cheek) I forgot to mention...
1983 Renault Fuego Turbo. That car was a trip and a half and slotted in after the 76 Alfa GTV. What a POS. I do not know how I could have forgotten it since it left me stranded more than once a long way from home. Everything broke on that car except the engine itself, which was surprisingly robust and I took good care with the management of the turbocharger. I will say it was a great car when it ran and was one of the most comfortable cars I have ever owned. The body roll however...was brutal, even with the "sport" suspension. The thing drove like a weeble... Ironically, the original owner bought an extended warranty for the car, which ended up paying out more in repairs than the original sticker price. I traded it in after a couple years of agony...while still under the extended warranty...

Dale,
We've had three; the GTV and the Touring 2000 (resto project) as well as a 76 Spider. The Spider was bought with a blown head gasket which I replaced and then tuned it up for my wife to use as a DD. Learning how to time the engine and the mechanical fuel injection was actually a pretty cool experience for me, although I was not able to get it 100%. I got it about 95% there. I had a real mechanic at De Finizio's in Philadelphia get me the rest of the performance. It ran like a top! Great car that my wife enjoyed immensely. The TR was great and served us well; dead reliable after I fixed the electrical system on it (long story). Neat car, but hard to get through NJ emissions testing back then. I had to screw around with the carbs to get it through inspection each year. On my wish list is a big Healey. I drove one a friend restored in when I was in College (he never let me drive it again, I scared him to death sliding around in it, great fun). One of these days...

1968 Austin Sprite (BRG)
1971 BMW 2002 1980 BMW 320i 1985 BMW 325e 2001 BMW 330Ci 2018 BMW M240i I sank a ton of money into the Sprite as it needed tires, rebuild of the rear drum brakes and a half shaft. Bought the 2002 in 1974 and got married in 1975. Ended up selling it in 1976 as the girl I married couldn’t learn how to drive a manual. We bought an Olds Cutlass which she go in the divorce. Bought a used 320i which I sold when I bought my first new BMW, the 1985 325e. Sold that with 175k miles on the clock (it still ran beautifully) when I bought a new 330Ci. Sold that when I bought my M240i. The M is a beast! |

They really are fun, aren't they? I find it rather shocking. Next to no power, but they are super light and have analog steering. My father has one and uses it for utility/winter rat duties. I never mind borrowing the thing when mine is in the shop.

Mine in order:
1979 Honda Prelude 1982 Honda Civic Wagon 1994 Acura Integra GSR (my first new car) 1998 Honda Prelude 2006 Honda Civic Si (new) 2008 Honda Accord V6 EX-L Coupe w/ manual tranny 2010 Acrura TL 2016 Honda Accord Sedan (Touring Edition) (new) 2018 BMW M240i X-Drive (current) I also have a 2010 Honda VFR 1200R motorcycle. The V4 in that thing is stupid-powerful and the bike is a lot of fun, but the fun this 240i provides is such that I might just sell it this year! Last edited by Jashue; 02-24-2019 at 09:36 AM..
