PP 86DSP, any reason not to?

Is there any reason to spend $899 for the bimmer-tech version of this amp over buying the Match version?

https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...fiers/pp-86dsp

They are going for $665 on the bay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MATCH-PP86D...-/362152255072

Just trying to figure out what makes the bimmer-tech version so special.

On the bimmer-tech website I chatted and asked what the difference was, this was their response:
Quote:
Hi, Pre-programming and optimization specifically for BMWs
Higher Signal-to-noise ratio and a much higher output power than regular PP86DSP unit
Plug and Play installation for most BMWs with factory SA676 Hi-Fi systems
Installation in other BMW models using custom mounts and brackets
2-year limited warranty
When I linked the Match site and told them output was exactly the same they came back with this:
Quote:
I just took a brief look but couldn't find a part about tuning files. We always pre-load a tuning file before sending an amp.

Still chatting with bimmer-tech.

After I pointed out there was no difference and the $230 for a tune was crazy they asked for the last 7 of my VIN#.

You need to take a couple of things into account. The Bimmertech one comes with a mounting bracket which is nice to have, and a wiring harness which is need to have. They will sell you just the harness but it is not cheap.

Wait til the BT one is on sale again for $850 and eBay plus extras won't be cheaper.

That is what I was thinking.

I was trying to get bimmer-tech to offer me some kind of code/discount but they said no.
They said best bet would be to see if they have a 4th of July or Black Friday sale.

Ugh!!!!!

I'd go that route honestly - trust me I did all the math you're trying to do. It made sense when crutchfield had them for $550 but only barely. And with that you still had warranty support.

As-is you'd be saving, if memory serves, $30 or so at current pricing assuming you get a bracket too. I'd spend the extra for a warranty and good customer support, that's like a burger and a beer.

Just bought and installed (well plugged it in) super disappointing. Surely if they ask for your VIN # it is so they can install a tune that works. Tuning imho is the toughest part and that is why I was cool paying a premium.
Just buy the cable from technic and install yourself. BimmerTech version not worth it imho.

Downside to Technic is that it does not supply power. BimmerTech will sell you a harness that does power but it's more $.

Why not taking the Fischer Match7 BMW.

Plug and Play. Harness and bracket included and cheaper than both.

Think that is a great idea.
