M240xi cosmetic fluff. Hot and spicy beanburger

Getting the ball rolling on my '19 M240xi cosmetics and personalization upgrades.

So far I put in some winter floor mats, $20 Amazon pedal covers, got my escort radar situated and installed these sweet carbon m logo mirror caps:

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-C...way&sr=8-1

I'm pretty happy with the easy install and I think they look really good...especially compared to the silver ones. For $125, they're priced on the lower side for cf, but they seem pretty legit. Fit great. And I get two more m logos! Up to 9 on the exterior already. Lol

The radar detector has magnets stuck to it with 3m vsb and rides on the speaker grill. Wired along the window down through the lower dash, over to the ebrake then back to the 12v socket at the back of the armrest. Mute button vsb'd near the ebrake. I hot wired a 2x usb car charger for power.

First try at vinyl wrap. I'm going to attempt a matte red carbon fiber on all the silver interior bits.

1st door pull. 1st try. A few wrinkles to iron out, but 99% in about 15 minutes.

Progress
I need some practice with the vinyl wrap, so I bought some black trim for the interior. Door handles and center idrive part.

Also 1st try at the shifter base with gloss black vinyl. The vent is just matte spray paint.

Ultimately looking to change most of the silver trim.

Updated the Qi cup holder a bit as well.

I keep practicing the vinyl wrap. Did the center vent trim in gloss black. Better than the alum hex, but I think I'll be painting it.

Also got the rt side vent painted matte.

Continuing the theme, painted my enkei's matte black. Might mount them this weekend (pending weather...summer tires)

Also installed the Can-flap odb module. No pics, but it's simple. Plug it in. Lol. Hold the BC button on the stalk and it switches between open, closed, and deactivate module.

Got some more stupid shit done...
Painted a bunch of interior trim, slapped in a dash cam, smoked side reflectors, mounted my enkei wheels/summer tires with some spacers +10mm front and +12.5mm rear, blue vinyl wrap on the support bars behind the kidney grills, black carbon vinyl pie stickers on all the roundels. And my first shot at vinyl eyelids. I'll be redoing them...this was a wrinkly practice run.

My favorite of the bunch is prob the wheels. Not sure what the offset difference is between the stock wheels and these, but with the spacers, they definitely appear to be more pokey.

I ran into a fitment issue with the kidney grills. I have a set from a '17 230i and they wouldn't lock in to the '19 m240i bumper. They fit. Seemed to line up fine. But wouldn't click in. Something is preventing them from going in the last little bit. I quit trying for the time being and clicked the originals back in with 0 effort.

2nd fitment issue was the smoked side markers. I tried a few times (purchased 3 different sets) to get them to fit on a '17 and '18 230i. They finally fit perfectly on the 240. Just heads up, they're different sizes between regular 2's and the m's

Dash cam is plugged into 12v by the cup holders. Ran the wire in the headliner seam down passenger side then under the glove box.

Popped the trim on the side of the dash and the cover of the knee airbag to route the wire

2nd try at eyelid wrap. Tried a different film and new technique. Better, but will try again when it's warmer.

Thanks farcus

I haven't gotten around to looking at the video. Lol I'm pretty sure it's recording but I should probably make sure.

Update to the mirror covers. Gloss black installed. The cf was too light in color. Also swapped out some vinyl pies on the roundels. Went with black/red/blue for a while :-)

I think it would look extremely clean if you wrapped the eyelid’s carbon fiber underneath the glass housing as opposed to on top. I’m going to do that within the next 2 weeks so i can send a pic when done..

Going to have a shop unistall the lights and take off the glass (bc i am not too sure how to and don’t want to mess it up) then going to wrap the eyelids carbon fiber, and have the shop reinstall them w the glass back over it

I'd say if you're going the route of opening the headlights, paint them vs the wrap. I don't have a link handy, but the painted interior looks really good (if you do it right)

I'd worry about the wrap warming up and cooling down over and over...
