230 Exhaust system

Does anybody have any suggestions or know who makes an exhaust for the 230. I have a 2017, but haven't really been able to find a system for it.

Will an exhaust made for the 240 fit well?

I have my M Performance exhaust from 228iX I am going to try to fit onto my 230 (originally its from 328/428 but fits perfectly) The piping diameter is different from 75mm to 80mm. So I will try to fit an adapter and have them weld it on if it fits. Going from 80mm (resonator) to 75mm (MPE exhaust) shouldnt sacrifice anything as MPE is less restrictive then OEM.

Will post results.

Any updates on the MPE? I’ve been all over the internet for months trying to find something that will improve the sound without being over the top or reducing performance

I have an Active Autowerke axleback installed on my 228i M Sport. I think it's a great sounding exhaust, and a huge improvement over the annoyingly quiet stock exhaust. Perfect amount of sound, with little to no drone as this is a daily driver vehicle for me.

I'll second this. Same exhaust installed on my 2016 228i. Totally agree with the assessment.

Will this system fit on the new LCI 2018? I’ve looked at several that are out for the 228 but none of them have been updated to say they also fit the 230i

The Only exhaust I found YET for our 230i are the supersprint exhaust and those are pretty expensive (About 1200-1500 euros).

I can't see why it would not work. The LCI didn't change any of the under car structure as far as I know. Keep in mind, even with the indicated compatibility, there will be some custom fitiment required.

Good point, I think the LCI update was all cosmetic (lights, dash, etc). I maybe wrong. For those interested, I sourced my axleback from a 328i forum member. It wasn't a direct fit, but an exhaust shop was easily able to fit it nicely.

Just to update, I purchased the 240i Dinan exhaust and a 240 MPerf diffuser and had it painted. It's sounds incredible and looks really clean. Dinan does make a 230i performance exhaust as well, but I really preferred the look of the symmetrical dual exhaust. It was a direct bolt on without any modification

The MPe for 240i fits plug&play on 230i LCI.
80 mm for the 230i exhaust line, 80 mm for the inlet of 240i MPe.
The sound is very very good, it's a direct line.

Really curious to hear about this! I've considered a couple times getting the midpipe but I'm worried it will be too loud at that point

Quick Update
Res delete was done yesterday. To be honest the sound difference is not major (at least without a tune on the car currently). I would say it's about 5-10% more sound but to me it's far from obnoxious.
So far, I seem to have some drone only when the exhaust is cold (few minutes of driving since it's still cold this week up here) but the same drone has been happening with just the Dinan axleback and in the same circumstance.
The exhaust seem more happy to pop and burble but it's still muffled by the exhaust.
Can't wait to see with the tune (hopefully BM3 this week) if there is a difference at all.

I took mine to the muffler shop and is missing the brackets that attaches to the hangars (rubber mounts). Luckily the guy made sure he had everything before cutting the tubing. If not I would it be SOL right now …

Could you take a pics of your hangers points? The passenger side is like a "L" type shape per the instructions that would attach with the bolts provided to the exhaust.

Waiting weeks for it and now I cannot get it install. Getting custom brackets is going to cost a pretty penny … if that is the case and I'm going to be freaking mad ...

Thanks

We carry Dinan exhaust for the 230, most of our customers use the Active Autowerke 228 exhaust

Hi,

We took what everyone loved about our 328/228 Exhaust system and we brought it to the b48 platform. We are currently putting the finishing touches on the exhaust and we will have an Eta Shortly

Sooo I ran into the same problem today trying to install the 240i midpipe on my 230i. The piping is the identical size and routing, but the mounting bracket to the left just behind the cat is different.... did you ever figure out a solution?
