M235i OEM Exhaust interchangeable w/M240i?

Greetings all,

I've noticed that there are so many aftermarket exhaust options for the N55/235i; however, I've noticed that there are fewer exhaust options for the B58/240i...

Before I exhaust (excuse the pun) all of my aftermarket exhaust options, can anyone confirm if the exhaust fitments/Pipe diameter are the same btw the two aforementioned vehicles?

Some vendors mention fitment for the N55/235i, up to MY 2018??? The N55/235i was replaced in 2017, IIRC...

Try to check on real oem with your vin to see if your exhaust is the same part number or interchangeable part number with the 235. I'm doing the same for my 230i comparing to 228 parts

Yes and no.

Plug and play? No

Plug with some modification? Yes

For starters the silencer box mounts are different. You need to buy the brackets.

The downpipe connection is slightly different too. The rest rubs the same route, so no issues there.

I fitted an M2 exhaust to my 240i. M2 is pretty much a 235 fitment, so had to do the mods mentioned above.

I would say not plug and play for sure. I have a m235i and my buddy has a m240i. We both got AWE exhausts+midpipe and ours looked pretty different. Especially the midpipe that's where most the variation occurs.
