M235i Used M2 Cluster Coding

Hi Guys,

Bought myself a used M2 cluster that i want to fit into my M235i. But I can't figure out/find anything on how to code this thing into my car. I'm reading things like using an eeprom programmer to erase the VIN etc...?

Anyone who can point me in the right direction? I'm familiar with esys & ista. The car has NBT EVO and all options from factory.

Thanks!

Well since no one answers i'll answer myself to help others.

It seems the seller sold me a fake M2 cluster where only the M2 dials are Original and the rest is from a MPH!! M140ix with KMH dials , i found out when reading the eeprom, I checked the VIN inside.

Anyway, i was able to erase the mileage and vin. I desolderd the chip and put it in my R270 1.20 programmer. i reset the odometer with the built-in software option. Then I read the eeprom and saved the BIN, edited the BIN with HxD and searched for the short VIN that was located at three locations. I cleared the VIN with FF and wrote it back to the eeprom. I soldered the eeprom to the mainboard, installed the kombi in my car and programmed it to my car with esys, it is working without tamper dot. But the scale is way off, when i'm driving 100kmh, the dial shows 80kmh, the cruise control and speed limit is in MPH. And that is because the seller scammed me, the digital part of the cluster is from a "normal" MPH BMW that has dials up to 160MPH/260KMH, he or someone else installed M2 KMH dials on that cluster and sold it has 100% Original F87 M2. Now i'm looking into this if i can change it. Probably not.

Stupid seller who scammed me, go figure, he sold me a MPH cluster, from a KMH M140ix with M2 dials...

Issue got resolved by buying another M2 cluster, installation was simple. The seller of the fake M2 cluster did not get back to me and I did not get my money back. Name of the seller is: Antonio Basile and his e-mail: basileantonio177@yahoo.de . The guy is a fraud, do not buy from him! He sells on ebay kleinanzeigen in germany.

Install is simple with a used one, just swap the piggyback mainboard with the one from your original cluster and it is plug and play. A new one is even simpler, just swap the cluster and it is done.

The only difference apart from the looks is that the M2 cluster goes to 300km/h and that is what i wanted. And i prefered the analog M2 cluster over the newer semi digital one.

Can you elaborate on how you went about coding the kombi via ESYS? There is absolutely no information on this yet - I've been looking for a while!

Would really appreciate a description of exactly what needs to be coded if you don't mind! I have the LCI cluster that I'd like to install into my car.

Hi,

i ve been doing instrument cluster swap for my customer's cars. The process is pretty straight forward, once you virginize the VIN n mileage out of the used cluster, you just have to VO code the KOMBI once you plug them on to the car.

LCI M2 Instrument cluster in my M235i?

I'm also thinking of putting an LCI M2 Instrument cluster in my M235i. a few questions for those who have done it:
a) is there any issue with the tach calibration? M235i is marked up to 7K, M2 to 8K
b) I'm assuming the redline on the m2 dash is "hardcoded/printed" , and therefore will be wrong for the M235i?
c) does the LCI IC support the "M235i" logo in the lower right and at startup?
d) anything else I should know?

Is this an alternative to virginizing the used cluster?
