blew out run flat. can I still drive on it?
So I get the pleasure of adding my name to the list of people who have blown out one of their pirelli run flats on the highway today! I know, lucky me right?! my question is can I continue to drive it around short distances until the replacement tire comes in on Tuesday, even though there is a hole in the sidewall? the tpms still shows the tire has 37 psi which I don't quite understand. My other option is to put on a summer tire/ wheel which is the exact same size as the run flat tire, but it is snowing outside right now and the weather is supposed to be bad here in Denver the next few days.
any advice would be appreciated! thanks! |

I blew a run flat when I had my F30 3 series. By the time I took it in the sidewalk had pretty much given out (I was losing too much tire pressure while driving on the flat that it stressed the sidewall). In the end I had to replace the tire
My advise is to keep an eye on the flat and make sure not to drive on it with low tire pressure. I'm back to summer and winter non-flats now and couldn't be happier. YMMV |
