CEL - Check Engine Light
Catless DP - no catalytic converter so it won't pass California emissions test, correct?
Catted DP - includes catalytic converter so it will pass emissions.
JB4 - tuner that can clear the CEL code and also can be used to tune engine for DP, CAI, etc. for better performance. Question: does the JB4 clearing the CEL allow a catless DP to pass emissions testing? Or should I just go with a catted DP because, you know, California.

Thanks!
Catted DP might not pass emission either.

Jb4 does not hide the CEL code, meaning you will have to clear it every 50-100 miles.
Car will not pass emission even if code has been temporarily cleared.

If you car is emission controlled in California, skip the downpipe

Thanks for the response Mike.

Best mods for this car in California would be a JB4 tune with a CAI?

Just has the CG catted downpipe installed and I'm throwing code 12BB01 - Oxygen Sensor After Catalytic Convertor, from lean to rich, delayed response.

I delete it with JB4 but is it safe to run the car this way?

jb4 no longer hides engine codes/cel. I e had the cel pop up from catless dp and cleared it whenever it comes in... typically getting on the throttle on a not warmed up engine. it's fine. the cel will come back in when it needs to.

Anyone from NY have issues passing inspection running JB4 with Catless VRSF DP, or is it possible to have all monitors ready before the CEL appears?

I know there are a few options for the O2 bung extension, that keeps the sensor out of direct flow but has anyone attempted this 90 degree bung: LEDAUT 90 Degree CEL Check Engine Light Bungs O2 Sensor Socket Real Mini Catalytic Converter Inside 201 Stainless Steel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MTA6OXG..._rAWECb9JXBCWA.

or has anyone replaced the actual sensor with a "simulator" functioning O2 sensor?

I have the VRSF 200 cell downpipe and when I first got it I had a CEL within a few miles. I got the stainless 90 degree spacer and it went off for about 200 miles, but came back on saying it was too lean. I got a small straight one for a few bucks and it's been off since (about 16 months and 10,000 miles).

Oops, I meant to ask for a link to the spacer that you are using. Sorry for the confusion.

I got a VRSF hatless down-pipe, I installed it with a 90 degree spacer and to worked perfectly for 2000 miles. I got a CEL and thought it was a normal cat deficiency code but ran a scanner and got all this. Something with the heater circuit.

p0036
p0031
p0037
any help and fixes is greatly appreciated.
thinking of removing the downpipe and taking it to the dealer and see what they find.

There's a heating element in your O2 sensor. While changing the down pipe it may have gotten banged and messed up the element. When the shop did mine they hit it putting it in the new downpipe. Had to buy a new one because of it.

Hey greg21040

Just realized u said u got the high flow 200 cell race cat instead of the catless. Do you know if the spacers you are using would work for catless too?

I'm not sure, probably. Don't be discouraged if you get. CEL. It might take small adjustments. I just happened to see the plug defoulers in Auto Zone the other day. I imagine there are several different size holes in them. If you get a CEL that's too lean you can drill out the hole in the spacer a bit. If it shows too rich then see if you can get one with a smaller hole. It's all about how much catalyst reaches your O2 sensor. I got a $21 scan tool that deletes codes. Then I'd just google the code and it'll tell you.
Hope this helps.

Scan tool

You can find them almost anywhere for cheap. Here is one on Amazon. It reads codes and clears them.
