Best catted DP

Hi,

I know there isn't any "the best" for everyone so let me lay down my requirements:
1) while I will eventually get a tune I want one that won't trigger a CEL
2) catted is wanted as i don't want foul smells
3) the exhaust tone can get deeper etc. but not much/ a lot louder (M240ix convertible and I like that it isn't loud when I just want to cruise or commute to work )
4) fit and finish should be good (I want to install and never touch it again)

Any suggestions?

You won't find a high flow catted DP that won't make the sound louder. That just goes against physics.

For everything else in your list, Fabspeed satisfies them all

I think Fabspeed is the only one with "no CEL guarantee". For me, the sound difference was minimal. It was a bit expensive, but it was just install and forget about issues.

Yes it will be louder but hopefully not LOUDER if the volume goes from 5 to 6 that is OK but not 11

VRSF is what I been running, no CEL, in since Oct, ....... loud loud loud, like went from From a 5 to an 8, ...... and it is great! Cold start is really where the noise is, but once back down to 750, sounds normal, ..... smell is very slight when really punching it, but other than that, all good! Best $500 I ever spent

On a totally stock car, the catted downpipe will add some sound but not a ton. The example on my car would be stock was a 4 and downpipe was a 6 on cold startup, but in normal comfort driving a 5. I'm biased to Fabspeed since that's what I have and their support has been excellent.

I would say the Akrapovic high flow dp but it will get a little louder and it will defiantly break the bank. No cheap but you get what you pay for. #1 it will not trigger cel #2 8/10 #3 5/10 and #4 10/10

I have the CG precision DS-1 catted downpipe. Fit was perfect and no CEL when I remove the jb4 for dealer visits (25 miles each way without the jb4). Even when I get on it without the jb4, no CEL.

CG is the only option with no CEL guarantee on B58 its our most popular downpipe

I also have the CG downpipe and absolutely love it but it has thrown a cell for me. Just ordered an o2 extension to hopefully fix that.

Does Fabspeed make a sport cat for the B58 M240i? Their website seems to only show a M235i sport cat. Would the M235i sport cat work even though it's a B55 rather than a B58 engine?

M235i is an N55 motor, m240i is a B58 motor. The down pipes are NOT interchangeable. This is because the inlet V band is larger on the B58 then it is on the N55, but also the N55 Downpipe also uses a V band connection to the midpipe whereas the B58 uses a standard exhaust clamp.
