Is 245/40/18 in rear ok, instead of 245/35/18?
Greetings all,
Did a search and came up with everything but my specific question... My '19 M240i xDrive was built with the staggered 18" wheels/tires, specifically, 225/40/18 (front) & 245/35/18 (rears). Can I change the rear tires to a 40 aspect ratio tire? In essence, I want to purchase A/S tires & would like to just increase the height of the rear tires from a 35 aspect ratio to a 40 height - 245/40/18, instead of the stock height of 245/35/18. Will this cause any issues with my xDrive and/or performance issues? TYIA/Cheers, B

If you increase the front aspect ratio too, shouldn't be a problem. 225/45-18 on the front 245/40-18 on the rear will keep the tyre rolling diameters close. On the stock wheels the offsets should prevent any tyre contact with body work, but I would confirm with your tyre fitter that there is no issue. I run 225/45-18 winter tyres on 18x8" ET45 wheels at all four corners without any issues, the speedo now reads 1% low compared with 3% high with the stock tyre sizes.

You could also go with a 235/40/18 on the rear and the overall diameter between your front and back would only be .3" vs a .6" with a 245/40/18. Either way will work but I'd personally go with the 235 because I'd like to be close as possible to the front diameter.
