Anyone recommending all weather or have buyer's remorse?
At the local tire shop, pretty sure I know which setup(s) I want for summer and winter based on forum input. About to purchase when employee says "ever consider an all weather?"
The shop is one of the few carrying Nokian, and they have the all weather WRG4. The price is unbelievably low which the pessimist in me thinks "what is wrong with them, trying to clear out a slow seller" but the frugal side of me thinks "oh, one set to do it all, and Nokian knows their stuff." Okay, who here has a high performance all weather (not all season) setup and would recommend them for spirited daily driving? Still a jack of all trades, master of none, setup? Squishy in the hot summer under aggressive driving, barely better than a 3-season/all season in the wet and under braking/steering? Nothing can be worse than my oem P7 RFT! The WRG4 have a 60,000 mile warranty for what it's worth, and $130 each is relatively dirt cheap. |

We found the WRG2 to be satisfactory in Northern New England, but finally got tired of its limitations in the winter and went back to a true winter tire. I agree that they're biased towards winter traction.

I had the stock all seasons on my M240i and have to say it's a really bad match for this car. For the amount of power the engine puts out, you can't really get a good grip on the road. I can see using them on one of the models with a smaller engine, like a 218i, but seems a waste on a M240.
Putting PILOT SPORT 4S Tires on it made a HUGE difference. |

And in my experience once you've run a true modern snow tire you'll find it's not a great snow tire either (although miles ahead of an all season).
