Wheel/Tire fitment on M235 Xdrive
I have wheels/tires from a recently sold e93 that I would like to transfer to a M235i Xdrive if possible. I am having trouble figuring out if it will be an easy fit on the M235. They are a staggered set, fronts are 235/40R18 on 18x8 ET35 wheels, rears are 265/35R18 on 18x9 ET35 wheels.
Any help would be appreciated. |

I would recommend against a 235/265 set up for the F22 xDrive system. When I had xDrive, I called numerous companies and shops, and they said it will increase the stress on the transfer case and can cause it to wear prematurely. However, they said that 225/245 or 225/255 sizes would be fine.
Use the Apex Race Parts fitment guide for advice on wheel widths, offsets, and tire sizes. Link: https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

Is running 255 in the rear going to damage my drivetrain? Car is FBO stage 2+ in the works...thats a-lot of torque if the system is unhappy. Thanks in advance.

The stock tires are staggered summers obviously 225/245 setup, and I'm wondering if I can run 225/245 for winters as well as 225/245 for summer that came from the factory without harming the system. After the stock summers wear out, I will most likely move over to PSS 225/255 setup for the 9" rim in the rear with ET38 while the fronts being 8" with ET35. If, in any chance, they rub, I will probably end up pulling the fenders or rolling them if that would solve the problem. Doing hpfp on my E93 before the sale on Sunday, wish me luck |

Not even diameter itself but the difference Front <> Back. So the car doesn't care is you have 225/40 or 235/40 all around as they have all the same diameter/rolling radius. But if you would go 225/40 and 275/40 then you add up with a front<>rear difference that isn't good for xDrive

I'm running the stock staggered in the summer of 225/40-18 and 245/35-18. If asked BMW six ways to Sunday if these are safe for x-drive and am consistently told yes. The best answer I got was the diameter difference is not large enough to even engage the xdrive system therefore no harm. |

On that page, Tire Rack explains rim-width range, including examples where automobile manufacturers specified a tire outside the recommended range (e.g., the E36 M3): https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...jsp?techid=198. On the page linked-to at the bottom of that page (https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiret...jsp?techid=233), the Rack describes rim-width options and issues when going outside the recommended range; there, the following text appears: "When road-going tires are pinched or stretched on wheels that are beyond their design range they can develop cracking, unusual or rapid wear patterns, or other failure conditions."
