Ground clearance after splitter ?

Stock ground clearance is 5.1 inches. I live in jersey now (pothole kingdom). Will I be able to make it with 3.75 inches after a splitter? Will my front bumper be in danger ? Thoughts? Ground clearance of your 2 series?

Grim I had the full splitter, it last about a year. Same whether as you shitty, I ended up just doing the carbon fiber flippers.

I had a front splitter, It's annoying, I would scrap the bottom everytime I leave the gas station, Taco Bell, the bank, ect - anywhere with an incline..

I cringed every time heard that crunching noise.. I got rid of it and never looked back..

If it's just a weekend car, maybe..

It looks sweet but I wouldn't bother with it for a daily driver unless you don't mind replacing it once in awhile..

I live in Enterprise Alabama where every drive entrance is preceded by a deep rain ditch and all the drives are steep inclines. Worst engineering I've ever seen where even suvs scrape going straight in. That being said the only person to scrape my splitter so far was the guy that installed it and the Dinan springs when he drove it to test drive the alignment.. I'm just very careful and go at an angle every time. It's annoying a little, but I did it for reason.

For me I'd rather damage a non permanent part that I can remove later if I was ever to sell the car. It's more or less a nice looking, and somewhat pricey, scrape guard for the factory bumper. I accept that more scrapes are bound to happen eventually, but I'm doing my best to avoid them.

I tried to upload a picture of the measurement but the app keeps crashing. Mine measured 3 5/8" from the ground to the bottom edge of the splitter. I'm on Dinan springs which are 1" lower in the front, 1/2" lower in the rear.

There are always ways and means of driving a low vehicle around if you are careful, but you have to remember at every speed bump and sidewalk crossing that you need to cross them at a carefully chosen angle. If it is what you want or what you need to have the car setup in a given way, you can adapt.

I run 65mm (2.6”) of ground clearance under the transmission bellhousing of my fun car when on the street (commonly known as “Coke Can Clearance”), 42mm (1.7”) on the track to get the optimum suspension geometry. I only scrape occasionally and have a steel rub bar to ease over the top of difficult speed bumps, which are normally the most problematic things I have to deal with.

I'm more concern with the concrete parking blocks that are aprox. 5" height with chamfer edge

The 1st scrap was done by some duche bag mechanic when I took my car for alignment, that during the test drive (joyride) he/they went to buy a sandwich(s) which I found the shop receipt in the car

Yeah I'm just not sure. See will it really protect my bumper ? What if I hit something hard and the splitter pulls on the bumper and messes it up somehow ?

Mines, after I went over a slightly raised manhole cover.. I had to PayPal a member here $20 to find me part number for piece I ripped off.. I was getting desperate..

The outer attachment tabs for the bumper ripped out also but I improvised and glued on a washer to substitute for a hole..

Poochie...OUCH!

Connecticut is where potholes go when they die so we have an abundance of them here. I occasionally scrape my M235 (OEM ride height) and in my old 550I (M-Sport package equipped) regularly scraped the splitter so I had to always be cognizant of this with road changes and unusual parking monuments.

Unless you are planning on occasional drives or tracking the car, I would keep it as is, unless you plan on replacing it or parts of it on a regular basis...

It’s not bad. I’m “lowered” on Dinan springs but are on 19s my splitter barely has scrapes. I’m in southern Cali but the drive ways aren’t that wonderful either.

Granted I used to have a belly scrapper before this which had a 2” ground clearance up front. Having been used to ALWAYS having to angle up and down drive wats is second nature. Oh and never drive too close to anyone that you cannot see far in front of you to be able to doge any obstacles that may smash the lip.

Good luck.
