18x8.5 ET38 & 255/35 Rear - Rub?

I have a set of 18x8.5 ET38 wheels and want to put 255/35 A/S 3+ tires on them on the rear of my M240i (stock suspension).
I'm planning on getting an alignment after install and willing to go up to -2 degrees camber in the rear. It's currently at -1.25 degrees.
Using the wheel calculator, I know they will poke:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=25mm&sr=0mm
I'm not happy that they will poke, but I am willing to accept that as long as they don't rub.
I don't want to buy and install the tires before I am confident they won't rub.

Is there anyone that has this fitment on the rear of a 2 with stock suspension and can confirm they don't rub?

Thanks!

You won't poke. I'm on Dinan springs, running 18x9.5 ET 58 with 5 mm spacers and 255 PSS and have a good 5mm before being flush. No issues at all. 18x8.5 ET 38 will be 2.3 mm further out than my setup. Should look good. Plus, 255 A/S should be a bit narrower than Pilot Super Sports.

Thanks for the input and sharing your experience.
But, using this wheel calculator, I come up with different amounts.

It looks like using your fitment (including spacer), the tires would only stick out 4mm more than stock:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=25mm&sr=0mm

But, using my fitment, the tires would stick out 19mm more than stock:
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=25mm&sr=0mm

19mm (3/4in.) more than stock is quite a bit. That's why I am reluctant to buy and mount the tires before someone confirms they've tried this fitment and it doesn't rub.

Sorry, I don't have the same setup as you so you will have to make a judgement call as to whether the following helps you.

My rear is a 265/30R19 9" ET40. (Front is 235/35R19 8" ET35)

I stick out 22mm more than stock. You stick out 19mm.
I am 2mm further away from suspension than stock, you are 9mm.
My wheel fills the wheel well by an extra 7mm, yours, 3mm.

So, I am 7mm closer to the suspension, 3mm further out and 4mm larger total radius than you.

With stock suspension. I have never had any rubbing. I tested it on the track for the first time this weekend and had zero issues.

You will poke a little, but very close to flush. I don't think you will rub.

I put some pictures in this thread for reference.

Yours are a few mm larger diameter and stick out a few mm more than my planned fitment and you have no rubbing, even on the track. That's reassuring.
That was very helpful. Thank you!

Edit: Your front fitment is also a few mm larger diameter and sticks out a few mm more than my planned fitment in the front. So, this is reassuring as well. Thanks again!

i have the set up as you mentioned and it does stick out a bit. no rubbing but 255 also seems too big for the 8.5. I didn't like it and swap the rear out to a 9. here's how it looks like. hope this helps.

Confirmation that you had the same fitment and it didn't rub is definitely helpful. Thanks!

Is that picture with the 8.5in wheel, or the 9in? If it's the 9in, what's the offset? Thanks.

My OE PSS still have some tread left on them, so I haven't put the new wheels/tires on yet... They're sitting in my garage, mounted, waxed and waiting.
The fronts are the same wheels, but with 235/40/18 A/S 3+ on them. I'm worried that those might also rub.
We'll see...

Well, I finally put them on the car.
4x (front & rear) 18x8.5 ET38.
Michelin PS A/S 3+, 235/40 front & 255/35 rear.
They don't rub!

Sidewall pokes slightly, but the tread is just tucked under the fender lip. You can see a picture here:
https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...&postcount=257

The ideal wheel and tire specs for this car (for me) would be:
Front: 18x8 ET42, 235/40
Rear: 18x9 ET50, 255/35
