My problem (with passengers)

I treat my car like a silk shirt.
Almost everyone I know treats ALL cars like a burlap sack.

We’re going for a (potentially very enthusiastic) drive.

Leave all that crap behind - you don’t need a bag (and whatever is in it) or a beverage.

If you really need it, we’ll stop for a drink or food - which you WILL finish outside of my car. You will not wipe your food hands on your clothes and then sit in my car.

I don’t care what sort of bag cup or container your food or drink is in or where you plan to put it…,

Do NOT bring it into my car because:
you WILL spill it,
you won’t notice, and
I will care.

Also, the place for your feet is in the footwell.
The place for your shoes is on your feet.
The place for your makeup, lotion, whatever, is outside of my car.

I need a placard.
… and psychotherapy …
But, primarily, a placard.

I am right there with you on the OCD car stuff. To pile on, passengers need not complain having to walk across a parking lot because I park my car way far away from others to avoid door dings.

My OCD was tested big-time this past summer when my wife left town for a work trip and took our SUV (since she offered to drive her co-workers-- that's a whole different issue. I mean, do her coworkers have OCD spouses with 2 door sports cars where they couldn't leave town with the SUV??? Why did my wife have to drive?) Either way the wife splits town the same days that I was planning to take my kiddos out of town to go 4 wheeling. We packed up the M240 with all the stuff and made the trip. I let my kids eat a couple meals in the car, and one kiddo picked out a strawberry milk as his beverage. I am happy to say that nothing was spilled and there were only a couple crumbs. After we got home I spent hours cleaning the car and then started to feel better. I get PTSD when I think back on this memory!!

Garage List
This is great Friday therapy knowing that I'm not alone in thinking that my car isn't a cafeteria.

Don't touch the paint when closing the trunk, use the license plate FFS! I mean pretty please, love of the my life.
