Best wax/sealant for new car?
So I've not had a brand new car in years but I'm expecting delivery of my M240i in the next few days. What is your favorite wax/sealant or finish protection product for a brand-spanking-new car? BTW, it's Mineral White Metallic color if that makes a difference. I have a Porter-Cable variable speed random orbit polisher, a variety of pads, and am pretty good at using it.

Also have mineral white.
I like hand waxing a new car. Been using Jay Leno Liquid Carnauba - it doesn’t dry and require additional liquid or pressure to buff out. And it’s easy to maintain with their Spray Wax. I think on my next new car I’m going to use Lucas Slick Mist after each wash for the first six-months then carnuba wax. Last edited by overcoil; 06-26-2018 at 11:39 AM.. |

Depends on your goals - if you want low maintenance which looks 80 to 90% of the best carnauba wax job, try ceramic coats. I've been using cquartz UK and like it. Car stays cleaner longer and its easier to wash off the dirt. I've only had it a few months so I can't speak to longevity, but I am planning on topping up with Reload every month or so. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes more than a year.
If you don't mind spending once or twice a month waxing the car, then I have had pretty good results with Maguires ultimate liquid wax. Collinite was pretty good too but was more of a pain to apply vs ultimate liquid wax. |

Check out Mckees 37 High Def Paint Sealant. I just switched over to Mckees 37 from Griots Garage. I really like their line of products. The paint feels extremely slick.

Sonax PNS is amazing! Made my F30 BSM super glossy and rain beads like crazy. Only need to apply it every 6 months.
I have yet to use is on my new EBII m240 but expect similar results. |

I use Zymol creme. My M240i is glacier metallic white, also. I apply a thin coating of the wax and then walk around the car for an hour re-applying the wax in areas where it's dried. I buff it out with a Craftsman orbital buffer. Then I apply a coat of the one-year wax. Worx for me.

As far as a sealant I've been using Chemical Guys Jet Seal 109 applied with a dual action polisher. With monthly waxings it lasts 12 months. An excellent sealant. I currently use Chemical Guys 5050 paste wax and apply by hand. Looks great on MG. I top each wash/wax with Kenotek Showroom Shine. Makes the surface so slick the car cover slides off when trying to put it on! Love that stuff.

I have had very good luck with Zaino products, which I used for years before getting my BMW. I can't provide a comparison to the products mentioned above, but they do cause rain to bead up and seem to last at least 6 months. One nice thing is that After their polish dries, the haze can easily be buffed off by hand. Also, they have a new polish-type product that does not require any buffing at all; it just dries, and you are done.

Meguair's Ultimate Wax is nice and Glossy, and can be applied every 1-3 months.
Their Ultimate Quik wax could also be applied after every wash. Wash your car every 1-2 weeks and it should stay looking New forever. |

I second McGee's 37 sealant. Last long and easy to use. I layered 2 coats and it lasted 18 months before I had to do it again.

i'd consider most sealants to be similar. but i do believe in layering, using McKee's Paint Coating (1 is enough for 20 cars), and then Meguiars xpress gallon size spray wax with drying |

Malms
I am religious about Malms. It is an old school carnauba. Lots of folks like the new chemical alternatives, and I have tried them, but I always come back to Malms. Highly recommended!

Washed my 2 today.
Water still beads up like the first day I applied RejeX, 11 months ago.

I use Finish Kare BWM high temp past wax. It's actually a sealant that lasts at least 6 months people say up to a year.
Easy on and hand buff easy off. I use it every 2-3 months and in between I use Opti wax https://www.amazon.com/Finish-Kare-B.../dp/B002NZL6M6 |
