I'm about to order the MMR baffle and get my car track ready for October. I've searched for that info as well but couldn't find anything. I'll try and do some logs in October when I get it on and report back any findings

I got the MMR on my car that I'm selling. Supposedly it's really good but I haven't taken the car to the track because I decided to sell the car.

I wired a light and switch to the Accusumps electronic valve so I can see when it's dumping oil. This has shown that the oil pressure PID is not as responsive as you might think. BMW either does some kind of smoothing of the data, or, the logging resolution (sensor feedback or OBD limits) just isn't that great. I say this because a log of oil pressure will show 80psi while shifting but the Accusump will dump oil during a shift which indicate it actually dropping below 60psi. Not concerning, but, it shows the oil pressure monitoring may not have the greatest resolution to capture a split second oil pressure loss.

Accusump is a great device but I've still read people popping engines even when using them.
Would you have more information on the specific PID? I'm trying to get the PID to display in RaceChrono Pro with OBDLink MX+. It may have to be a custom PID.

So my N55 on my 2014 335i took a dump at VIR this past weekend.

They both are the N55B30A variant. I know the M235i N55 has the forged crankshaft. Can I use an M235i N55 instead of a 335i N55 as a replacement and how much more work would it be to get it working?

I bought used oil pan, suction pump and oil pump from M4. Also you need cover lid FOR RETURN LINE that you can order from the dealer. That part is used on M235R racing version. All those parts exactly the same as M235R cup, so you don't need to make modifications to retrofit them. Right now I have no problem with the engine so far.
Are you able to reuse your oil level sensor or did you have to use an oil level sensor for the M2/M3/M4?

Funny enough i spun a rod bearing on my M235I N55 a couple weeks ago, so much for forged internals...

One of the shops i called when inquiring about sourcing an engine told me that the N55 from a 335i would be a swap option and "should drop right in" mind you only one shop told me that of the 4-5 i called in my area.

I know the Xdrive N55s have different oil pans than non Xdrive N55s. so be careful with that.



Do we know if the S55 oil pump is compatible with the N55 Xdrive oil pan? S55 oil pan apparently doesnt fit on my N55 due to said Xdrive

Hey any word on how this worked out? From the few sources I’ve found in a half hour search on this it helps maintain pressure after a hard braking situation, but not so much with the issue during high-g on-throttle long corners.

I see you're local also. Have you driven at the ridge with it also? Suspension setup? I've already purchased mine. Who installed yours?

I've just been running at pacific raceways, it's much closer to home. As far a suspension I have Bilstein b6 shocks, Dinan springs, camber plates, adjustable end links, subframe bushings, monoballs on the front, every kind of brace basically and probably some small stuff I've forgotten. Wider wheels and M2 brakes if you wanna count that too.

I put the baffle in myself, it's a big job but you could do it at the same time as some maintenance stuff like a water pump or something to help justify the effort, having the subframe off would make that a very easy job.

How many events over the two summers?

What weight oil are you running for these events?

I don't log anything but lap times. Probably 5 or 6 whole day events each summer, running 5-40 oil.
