Redefining a 2Addict - A Build Thread
It’s been a while since I posted here, but for those interested my original post please click here.
Without getting too much into it, I sent her a little too hard and decided to make the best out of the situation by building the engine completely, slapping in a bigger turbo, and adding a few more “while I’m in there" mods. Before you ask, I have not dyno'd this car yet so I have no idea what the HP figure is. I don't have a stock baseline dyno and I was never really interested in crazy horsepower numbers or a high hp build to begin with. I wanted this car to be able to handle/grip first and foremost, and then power-wise be right on the edge of almost being too much. If you still need to know, it's definitely faster than a PS2. It’s closest rival would probably the DAW 2.5+ on the B58. The turbo is capable of up to 650hp (with the help of some e85) but my butt dyno tells me right now it's probably just shy of 550whp on 93 only. Eventually, I'd like to take this car to the track, but for now I'm just enjoying cruising it on open freeways, running through twisty routes and backroads, and taking my girlfriend to the next place she can take a picture of food before we eat it. You can find me either on Instagram @clint.mendoza or on Facebook as one of the Admins of the BMW M235i / M240i Owners Club group. So without further ado, enjoy! 2015 BMW M235i (N55) Exterior Color: Mineral Grey Interior Color: Coral Red Transmission: 6-Speed Manual Options: Sunroof, Heated Seats, Navigation, HK Audio System, Reverse Camera / PDC Sensors, Adaptive Headlights Mileage: 78,XXX ENGINE

FUTURE PLANS
If you’ve made it this far - thank you for taking such an interest in my build! I’ve always enjoyed not only the journey of modifying the car and chasing my vision for it, but all the friends and connections I’ve made along the way. No matter the state or country, I’ve made and even remained friends with a lot of people (some of whom don’t even own a 2 series) and if that’s not the coolest thing ever I don’t know what is. So again, thank you, drive safe, & I hope to come across your build some day! Last edited by NOT2DAY; 10-26-2022 at 08:58 PM.. Reason: typos |

You can't list all those mods and not include a driving video :P
But really, awesome build! That's a ton of work. Interested in seeing a dyno/torque curve, especially with the N52 cam. |

How strong is the KGS front splitter? Is it chassis mounted? Ive got the side skirt and rear spat kit, and would definitely consider it if its trackworthy.

I'll get it on the dyno eventually - it's plenty quick on 93, i can only imagine what it'll feel like/put down on E40. It's not chassis mounted and I wouldn't say it's load bearing - it's held up to triple digit speeds but it's not aerodynamically tested at all. It's only screwed into the front lip above it and through to the front bumper with a few longer screws. This was more of a mock up to see how I like the look before getting a custom chassis mounted solution fabbed up. |

I was looking at the F8X LCA/TS when I was still on Dinan Springs and bump stops. I got a great deal on the Ohlins with Vorshlag Camber Plates so I didn’t really need the F8x LCA/TS for camber anymore and went with a more plug and play solution (vs needing shims or whatever else) of upgrading the bushings to improve feel and decrease deflection.

Currently considering Dinan springs/stops, M4 LCAs/tension arms, and wider wheels but starting to wonder whether it'd be better to just go with Bilstein B16s or similar coilovers that still retain OEM damptronic functionality |

In comparison, I think the Ohlins are amazing - they soak up road imperfections well, settle quickly, and provide much more confidence and compliance both straight line and especially in the corner. If you’re sold on keeping your OEM adaptive suspension control, I’d recommend KW DDC or similar kits that retain OEM adaptive functionality. Last edited by NOT2DAY; 10-25-2022 at 09:42 AM.. |

What an awesome and tasteful build, man. Proving that these cars can look every bit as good as an M2, or better. Of course that's just like my opinion! --
The 245/40's really suit the car with the taller sidewall. I understand wanting to have lower profile tires for handling but I've been using 235 and 245/40's for years now and the car handles fantastic and my wheels are way less vulnerable. The other advantage I'm noticing is that it allows to close the fender gap while still giving the front lip a little room to breathe. Anyway, nothing important to add, just wanted to express that this build is sick. Keep going! Oh I will just add that KW DDC and Billy B16's are both damptronic options and I'm saving my pennies for the B16's with F30 Swift Springs as the standard springs on the B16's were developed with the I6 engines in mind, not the 4banger, like mine. Cheers

The next setup I'm looking at will be either a 18x9 or 9.5 with 255/35 or 255/40 to see how a square setup feels. Yeah, I had a friend with the DDC and he swore by them, but I just couldn't pass up the deal on the Ohlins/Vorshlag combo. Plus I like to tinker so it's definitely a lot of fun learning up on damper settings, spring rates, and even adjusting the sway bars. Last edited by NOT2DAY; 10-27-2022 at 09:01 AM.. |
