Trunk lid wont open

I recently purchased a 2015 228i convertable and was unable to open the trunk with key fob or button under dash. I attained access to trunk by pulling on emergency release. Then I lowered the back seats to keep access in case need for access again. I removed the latch actuator motor. Inspected and didnt notice any issue other than it wouldn't work. Disconnected emergency cable and moved the lever back and forth where the cable connects. Re installed actuator and reconnected cable. Tried the key fob again and it works again. Dont know what it was. Both the fob and button under dash work again. Sprayed the actuator with silicon to lube. The only thought that comes to mind is the actuator was binding and maybe the outside temperature could have been a factor. Dont know but ordered a new actuator to have in stock.

Had a truck lid failure on my coupe. Couldn't access the trunk area at all.

Seems to be a somewhat common failure. I'm impressed you fixed yours.
