Subframe bushings?

Can anyone speak to subframe bushing upgrades? I've seen a few posts on this forum where guys have said they've put in more aggresive, even solid, subframe bushings, but I haven't seen anyone really talk about what it did to the car. What I'm wondering is, what difference have you seen in the chassis characteristics? Would you consider it a real performance upgrade or more of a 'because racecar' type thing? Feel free to divulge if you have done this on non-f22 chassis's.

I have done them, a big improvement over stock. I used superpro bushings for f30. I also did differential bushings at same time.

I'm thinking FCA bushings because I hear the stock ones die an early death as a result of enthusiastic driving. Problem is I hear too many models of solid bushing introduce extra vibrations because they're so stiff. Wouldn't it be the same for the sub frame bushings?

Just did the Delrin subframe bushes from Bimmerworld.

Made a day and night difference. It helps putting power to the ground so much. Gone is the wobble from the subframe moving. especially when you are powering out a bumpy corner.

No extra harshness or vibration.

100% recommend it.

Nice, Im still going for superpro soon, because i also want the front bushes to adjust camber, my front camber (left/right) variance is big causing a pull to the left.
And thinking of LSD bushes considering that im also doing quaife install soon what do you think

How much of a job is rear subframe bushes ? Is it drop the whole subframe to press out old and replace off the car or can you push out old then install new bushes one side at a time, using suitable sized socket and longer studding to remove old bushes ?

Don't think replacing one side at a time is great idea.

Curious about this too. I'd like to diy if possible. I believe the financial swaybar install shows you how to drop the subframe.

The subframe must be lower evenly. It is much easier to drop the whole subframe and press out the bushing.
My shop charged 6 hrs for the job which I think is more than reasonable.

I am pretty sure there is a DIY from forum member VTL. Check out his build page in the Australia 1 series E series forum.

Neither do I !!!

I was suggesting if the swap could be

1.work on one side
2 then switch to work on the other side

You change out all 4 bushes without lowering s/frame completely.....

I did myself with a portable lift (trackback). You could do it I guess, you would prob have to cut out most of the bushings and then press out metal, also not sure if you could drop enough to seat new bushings. Really you can disconnect the driveshaft at the transmission and just replace those 6 bolts, drop the whole subframe LSD, suspension and change. III dropped into a moving dolly rolled out, changed rolled back in. 6 hours is more than enough. I see no benefit of trying this on the car. Just a lot of headache.
