Check Tire Pressure Warning

Hey folks- a few weeks ago I had my right rear tire patched by some shady local shop in a pinch.

Turns out they only plugged it, I was green at the time and didnt know the difference between a patch.

At any rate, every day since then when I start the car the warning message to check tire pressure comes on.

No matter how many times I reset it or let the system read the pressures, it always does this. Tire pressure is totally fine. No actual issues with the tire.

Any ideas?

If the tire is holding air and you are sure that it is at the correct pressure, my guess would be sensor damage as well.

Is it safe to do a short burnout and 1/8th mile pull on a patched tire? I feel like the heat and friction could open up the wound- but maybe the vulcan process holds harder than I realize?

I talked to Michelin about this, they said a properly patched tire is capable.

Not sure I'd be pulling high G's on the Daytona banking but anything you can give it in the road will be within the patches capability.

Plug is totally different.

Not sure I would recommend the burnout in this case. I think it really depends on the quality of the patch job. Originally you said the tire was only plugged. If that is the case, I would err on the side of caution and replace the tire or refrain from drag racing until its time for a new set.

Yeah the shop was really shady but my car was towed there so I was trapped. Total predatory situation.

For the record the tire is plugged and not patched, I didn't know there was a difference at time of repair.

The sketchy meth head at the shop assured me I could still drift and slide the tire, but I trust the heads on this forum way more!

Summerduck has open time trials this sunday so its a now or never situation. Could be months before I find somewhere cheap and accessible to low end newbies like myself. Really wanna get a time slip for all the mods and see what they do real world.
