You need to search the forum I read somewhere that coding helps for 235 but you still get background noise static etc that is entirely eliminated with harness. For 240 BMW changed something so that just coding provides the same results as harness. At least I believe that's the case I didn't care to spend too much time investigating because I don't have a 240.

Any tips or tricks on getting this last bit of seal down? The install was smooth but for the life of me I cannot get the center down.

Mine always looks the same way. I've settled on lining it up, setting it as best I can, then letting the trunk lid settle it the rest of the way over the next few cycles. Seals just fine for me.

Nice. I forgot to follow up on my own post:

It was just above freezing in my garage, so I whipped out my heat gun and fixed it that way. Once the seal was warm it just sort of slipped in.

Gonna bump this post up to the top again so newbies can see it. I just completed this install tonight. It took me about 40 minutes. I have a vert so it was a little more difficult, or so I've heard. I wasn't able to get the trunk tie down piece removed as the odd sized Torx screw was too tight to loosen with a vice grip as recommended in the article. I was able to move the trunk liner panel away far enough to reach in and complete the job. I also found it wasn't necessary to pull all the rubber weatherstripping up around the trunk, but rather just pulled the part out from under the lip and then replaced the pieces later.

All in all it was an easy job, maybe a 2 on a 1-5 scale of difficulty, thanks to this thread and everyone that contributed to it. I have to say, I am really happy to have the great M Performance Exhaust sound "outside" and coming from the rear of my car as opposed to in surround sound inside my car.

Also, I remember reading about having to swap out wires in the adapter itself because there was a manufacturing error. Is that still the case?

Nope they fixed it. Was a BMW fuck up but TechP fixed his. Well his was fine to begin with but he made his "incorrect" now to cancel out the BMW problem.

Said another way just plug it in exactly as it is and it fixes everything. No need to swap wires.

Crackling Popping Sound from Speakers after Harness install

Anyone experiencing crackling, popping sound after installing the Technics harness? It seems to be intermittent and may come from any of the speakers...

Negative, no issues here since installing mine.

Unrelated side note, you _don't_ need to remove the rear seal when removing the cover from the back of the trunk.

I have a dumb question (caused by being a dumbass). I fixed the sub error in Technic's harness by cutting and splicing using bullet connectors. One of them came loose and I had intermittent left front sound drops so I pulled the harness this morning and redid the splices using heat shrink tubing and overall a better job.

In the process of pulling apart my trunk, one of the interior fasteners went missing somewhere inside the trunk. I spent an hour looking for it and cannot find it for the life of me. I had a couple of spares (from putting in grocery hooks) so I had no problem pinning it all back together, but my question is that is there any way that the missing fastener can cause any possible damage to anything? I am thinking if it somehow got trapped under some sort of electrical connector or something?

I know I may hear it rattle around, that's self-inflicted and if I do I'll go back and look again, but is there any risk at all with it loose somewhere back there?

If it's one of the little plastic ones, I can't see it doing much of anything.

Just installed the harness. I confirm that you don't need to remove the trunk seal, it would just make it way more work

the white noise / hiss also annoys me a lot. Somewhere else I read that it comes with the hands-free option but I suspected the ASD as well.
Can someone confirm that the harness will also fix the hiss with the HiFi System?

Unfortunately I have just the 228i four cylinder engine - will there be some sound left after bypassing the ASD?

The ASD Delete harness eliminates both ASD and the higher noise floor that the ASD amplifier module generates within the system. So, the short answer to the first question: yes.

The short answer to the second question is also yes. It's not loud, but it can be heard. Though ... do a quick downshift about 3.5k rpm with either the MT or the 8AT auto in manual mode, and the engine emits a nice lil' 'BRRRRAP!' from backpressure -- even with the OEM exhaust. (I had loads of fun listening to that during this trip, hehe.)

You'll find that whenever you are looking for audio upgrades for our cars. Believe it or not ROW there's an even worse base stereo and the hifi is an upgrade. Any questions just email them Elias is very responsive and helpful.

Thanks a lot for the info! Now I must have this bypass harness
Is here someone else from Germany for a collective purchase order - or how much might the shipping be for just a tiny cable ? ...

EDIT:
Just checked the thecnicpnp shop and it lists 30 bucks for shipping ?!
Is it possible to cut and re-solder the original cable?

One more question: do i have to connect the ASD with the bypass harness at all? Will it show an error message in the idrive?
