Last week of 2016 Production?
What's the last week of 2016 production this summer...end of July?
If I want to pick up a car ED in early-mid October, can I have them build a 2016 and hold it for me until then...I thought you used to be able to do that? Thanks!

Well my 2017 car is being built in Week 28 (11th to 17th July), so I suspect 2016 production only has a couple of weeks left if that.

I believe that's true as well. It would be difficult to find an allocation at this time of the year since we are cutting it close. Even some earlier orders (March/April/May) were having trouble with an allocation for June productions. Some fear they are being pushed to a July production and while that may be okay for some, it isn't for others. You're better off buying an inventory and hope for a configuration that comes real close to what you'd hope for.

so after talking for quite a while with my fleet guy it looks like it has to be 2017...unfortunately that apparently means a new and reduced maintenance plan? that sounds terrible. while i'd love a 240 its probably going to be a 230...i just can't justify a 240 for the 60 mile rt commute

FWIW I tried to order a manual 228 about 1 month ago and was told there were no more manual trans allocations. Now looking at a 2017 230. Reduced maintenance kinda sucks but not sure if I want to pay for a car on the lot that's not configured to my liking. I can only find 3 228's in the continental US that have M-Sport, Track pack and manual. They are either fully loaded or optioned rather bizarrely IMO.

Well, I just did a bmwvin.com lookup for a bunch of vins after mine to see where the cut off is at this point. My M235i production date was June 15, the last production date that shows a valid vin was June 22nd. Mind you, today's only 25th so there could be one more weeks worth of builds for all we know? Mine's a 6MT RWD vin. I checked a 8AT RWD vin and the last build date for those currently are June 20th and I couldn't find anything after.
I did this via brute vin lookup lol. (ie. start from my vin and keep +1 in the lookup)

I destroyed my IT Band about 1.5 years ago daily driving a porsche cayman in LA traffic...it was either the stick or the running schedule that had to go...the stick lost. So, it's 8AT...

Maybe that thing is a lot more fun than the auto 228i. It obviously has more work to do, so it's a thing to keep in mind. You win in either case... I think the 228i is pretty good, even in auto. |

My (incoming) M235xi CV had a production date of June 11, 2016. Final prod weeks would also depend on the 'type' of car (convertible, AWD vs RWD, etc), I assume.

Last car produced in EUR spec, RWD and 8AT appears to be V487310, which was a 23rd of June built car.
I managed to snag the 8th last car built for the Australian market, with a rather appropriate last 3 digits of the VIN being the same as my track cars model #. Meant to be! |

I just ordered a 2017 230i does anyone know when production starts or a estimate when it will be here. I'm in no rush but need to sell my ride before it comes so I want to plan it out. Thanks.

It could be the date the VIN was reserved for it or when build started and then the line stopped for a couple of weeks pending the updated parts being added to workflow...
