Interior Plastic Scuff Suggestions
Hi All,
I scuffed the soft-touch finish off of this interior plastic piece and not sure how to go about repairing. I would appreciate any suggestions. All I could think of to do is try to use a black sharpie and smear it off to darken the spot a bit, then apply a coat of matte finish clear nail polish to prevent any spread of the damage. Not sure how that would look though! |

Some have used Plasti Dip to simulate the soft finish. Other options would be to scrub off the rest of the finish, smooth it out & wrap it or replace the part. Your plan will leave you disappointed, I'm afraid.

I'd like to know how people deal with the scuffs on the door pocket.

Thanks - but I believe I was not clear -my leather is fine - it's the plastic door pocket of the drivers door - I have few scuff marks from getting in and out.

Judicious use of a magic eraser might help the appearance. They are abrasive so use a light touch. I've used them wet.

But seriously, don't use a marker - the inks are actually a composite of many colors, and in the sun they separate out or degrade away and leave a weird, but brightly colored smear. Paint (or perhaps wax) would be a better option if you need to cover it. |
