Didn't get oil change until initial service. Bad?
So when I first took delivery on my vehicle, I thought 8k miles til the first oil change was a bit long. I asked the dealer about this, and they downplayed it and said it's perfectly fine. I thought to myself 'oh that's what BMW signed off on so it must be ok.' I did my 8k, got my oil change, and didn't thing about it. Now, I peruse this forum and see that it's pretty standard for folks to do a 1200 mile oil change after break-in. Have I f****d up in some egrigious way? I am feeling a bit uneasy for having overlooked what in hindsight seems like a fairly obvious thing to do.

No, you didn't screw up.
The oils that they use are so good and the engine manufacturing methods are so clean and accurate - you'll be fine. As much as I like doing an early ( mileage ) oil change there are some who believe the extended first oil service is actually helpful ( excluding break in oils ) |
