235/40/18 square setup question
Hello,
I would like a 235/40/18 square setup on my 2016 M235i xDrive. Hoping to use Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber. Stock ride height now, but considering a mild drop in the future. Trying to avoid spacers and fender rolling if possible. Considering two wheels: - Enkei Raijin 18x8 +32 - TSW Nurburgring 18x8 +35 Anyone running any of these setups? Will they work without rubbing? Thanks Last edited by SpudGT; 02-06-2018 at 11:03 PM.. Reason: Change title |

While not a perfect match I do have some information that may help. I have the 18x8 +35 TSW Nurburgring wheels on my current RWD 228i and I had them on my previous RWD 228i.
The previous car had the 702 M-Sport suspension which is a 10mm drop from stock. While I had only 225's vs your desired 235's there was plenty of clearance. My current 228i has the M Performance Suspension which is 20mm down from stock. Same TSW wheels but they are now my winter wheels and I have 225's in Michelin Alpin PA4 tires. Again no issues and I can't imagine a 235 would not fit as well. YMMV. Just thought I'd add some similar experience.

Went with VMR
Ended up going with a square VMR setup:
- VMR V804 | Hyper Silver - 18x8.0 ET42 - 235/40/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport - Stock suspension and alignment Really happy with the fitment, no rubbing noticed so far. Dinan springs are on the way ... Saved a bit of weight as well: - each stock wheel and tire was 45.4 pounds - new VMR wheel and tire is 42 pounds. What is the offset of the stock wheels? I’ve been digging around trying to figure it out. I want to run the 235/40 on stock wheels. My understanding is there’s only about a 5 mm gap. Which would be pretty much taken up by the extra 5 mm on the inside when going from a 225 to a 235 mm wide tire

Stock wheels are 7.5Jx18 ET45 in the front, 8Jx18 ET52 in the rear (or the same as the front if not staggered).
The 7.5" wide wheels will only fit a maximum width of a 225/40-18 tyre, 8" to 9.5" wide is required for 235/40-18 and 245/35-18 tyres, 8.5" to 10" wide for 255/35-18 tyres. |

After several months of driving and a couple AutoX events there is no sign of rubbing. I can't say if my camber settings contribute to the lack of rubbing, but the tires don't look dangerously close to the fenders. The clearance between the front tires and the front struts seems tight, but no issues. |
