Cracked Wheel on 228i
I hat a huge pothole with my run flat tires and cracked my wheel. The shop welded it but it didn't work. I need to replace my stock wheel with a 225/40/18. Is there a way to do this without going through the dealer and getting a financial rim job?

I'd check in the classified section under member sales. There are a couple of sets of wheels for sale at a decent price. This would also allow you to have a spare on hand in case this happens again.

If that does not turn up what you need, the local salvage yard can probably get you a used wheel/tire assembly. Or use it as an incentive to switch up to new wheels and non-RFT summer tires. Unless you have the really big brakes, you can fit 17" wheels for more sidewall if you want a little better pothole survival.

There are 17" wheels that fit the big brakes. I have been using a set for my winter tires for years. Just ask a reputable dealer. TireRack is great that way.
For just a single wheel, find a local wheel and tire shop. They should be able to find one, new or used. |
