What is all the WHIRRING when I open my door?

Every time I open my car door (especially after sitting overnight), I hear motorized whirring from the front and back of the car. The whirring only lasts a few seconds or so. What is it?

I believe it's the fuel pump. It kicks on to pressurize the lines under the assumption that you're about to start the car if you just unlocked it.

That is the official line. In fact, it's the gremlins.

Seriously now...it's the flux capacitor kicking off the dilithium crystals, which produces the brief whirring sound.

Yep believe it is the fuel pump as well. It definitely is high pitched and caught me off guard when I first got the car. Now I just think of it as the car screaming with excitement to see me

Yeah...mine is pretty loud. Sounds like a wind tunnel gets kicked on when I open the door. The sound gets amplified quite a bit in my garage and is fairly loud:-)

You know the sound the starship Enterprise makes just before it jumps to warp speed? It's that. The warp drive charging up!
