2021 ordering opening up?
Wondering if anyone else has heard this.
Just had an email from one of the 5 million dealerships I have been in communication with across the country. He says they just got a req (or whatever you call it) to order a 2021 M240xi coupe, if I would like to custom order. I've responded asking for details, ie, whether the starting price & standard options have changed. I have gleaned from other threads that there is an "ordering guide" that has to be released... wondering if that is out there now. It looks like the configurator on the BMW site still shows 2020 info. |

If your dealer has an allocation, I cannot imagine they do not have an order guide with which to place the order. Might be time to head to the showroom in case its online only for them at this point and sit side by side at their screen.

Dealers can print out order guides
Dealers can print out order guides.
Mine printed the 2020 OG for me when I was ordering. Must be the case with the Pricing Guide too. |

Thanks, both! I think I am going to wait a while yet because incentives & APR haven't been announced yet for the 2021s. Dealer indicated that we won't know until, probably, July 1. Since I am not in a hurry, I may as well wait so that I know my worst-case pricing.
I already told him I'm going to wait, so I'm not going to ask him for the OG right now. But I can share the info I got from his quote if anyone is interested; base price has gone up, but the premium package has gotten cheaper, as a couple items moved out of that package and have been made standard -- Base price for the coupe (xDrive) is $48,350 (up from $47,800) Standard Equipment: 1CC Automatic Start/Stop function 20Z 18" M Double-spoke wheels - style 719M Jet Black w/ all-season run-flat tires (style 719M) 249 Multifunction steering wheel 2NH M Sport Brakes with Blue Calipers 2TB 8-Speed Sport Automatic Transmission 2VB Tire pressure monitor 2VF Adaptive M Suspension 2VL Variable sport steering 302 Alarm System 322 Comfort Access keyless entry 3AG Rear view camera 3DZ Without Lines designation outside 403 Moonroof 423 Floor mats 430 Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors 431 Auto-dimming rearview mirror 459 Power Front Seats 481 Sport seats 488 Lumbar support 493 Storage package 4AE Adjustable front armrest 4WF Aluminum Hexagon Trim with Estoril Blue matte highlight 508 Park Distance Control 521 Rain sensor and auto headlights 534 Automatic climate control 544 Dynamic Cruise Control 563 Ambient Lighting 5A2 LED Headlights 5AS Active Driving Assistant 5DC Folding rear-seat headrests 606 Navigation Business 645 Radio control US 655 SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 1 year All Access Subscription 676 Hi-fi sound system 697 DVD Area coding (North America) 6AC BMW Assist eCall 6AE BMW TeleServices 6AK ConnectedDrive Services 6AM Advanced Real-Time Traffic Information 6AP Remote Services 6CP Apple CarPlay Compatibility 6NH Hands-free Bluetooth and USB audio connection 6WA Instrument cluster with extended contents 710 M steering wheel 715 Aerodynamic kit 760 Shadowline exterior trim 775 Anthracite headliner 8KL Oil Chg 10,000 mls/12 months 8TN Daytime driving lights Premium Package option is listed at $1600 instead of $2500 and now only includes: - Heated steering wheel - Universal garage door opener - Heated front seats - Navigation system Of the other options I told him I'd want - upgraded exterior color, upgraded interior color, and H/K sound system - they are the same as 2020 prices. |

I ordered my M240 on June 18th, 2016. I think production usually starts on the next model year in July, so we're definitely approaching the window if it's not already open.
Just be warned; I took delivery on October 19th. Be prepared to wait a while if you order now.

This is really helpful, thanks. I'm in a similar situation after finding and test driving a low mileage 2017 CPO M240i locally. The dealer's final offer was $37.5k for a car w 17k miles -- I assume b/c RWD, manuals are hard to find.
I never thought it would make sense to buy a new car, but I'm not going to pay that for a 2017 when I can order a 2021 with exactly what I want for maybe ~$10k more, with full warranty and peace of mind (vs not really knowing how it's been driven/abused). I expect to keep it long term, and I did enjoy that test drive. It'll be tough to part w the E90 I've had for 10 years, but the one I drove felt superior in almost every way (still prefer the steering in the E90, but I'll get over that). I have inquiries out to several dealers around here for ordering a 2021, and I'll post anything I hear. Last edited by DavePatr; 06-10-2020 at 03:53 PM.. |

My 2018 Audi A4 (6mt) lease is up in October and I've mostly decided to order a 2021 M240i (I had a 2015 228i M Sport / Track w/ Dinan and I miss it). I saw that 2021 order guide posted (here).
So it looks like nothing has really changed for 2021? No iDrive updates, etc? My dad picked up a 2020 X3 yesterday and it's June already, so perhaps I should start inquiring about ordering soon ..

2021 will be the last year of this model. Changes in such circumstances are minimal at best.

2021 configurator live
Haven't seen this mentioned -- the configurator (?) for 2021 2 series is up: https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...series/2/coupe
I sincerely hope this description is a mistake for the M240i: "2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder Rear-wheel drive" rated w same 335HP as the M240xi: "3.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder xDrive, intelligent all-wheel drive" Last edited by DavePatr; 07-09-2020 at 11:40 AM.. |
