When BMW counts speakers, they count the mount points, not speakers sitting on top of other speakers.

Spoke with my dealer this morning, he's got a BMW rep there today and they're on the phone w. BMW NA. Confirmed no programmable EQ (so like the 1-series) and is going to find out the rest. Will keep you posted on what he finds out and proposed solution / rebate / whatever.

Bottom line, everyone that ordered the HK option should demand a full refund. I'm sure this option was not what you expected. Please, everyone post their feedback from BMW USA on this matter as it will assist all of us with any claims.

I'm thinking of doing the same however it wouldn't make sense since they could just tell me to change my order.

FYI, on a lease you wouldn't save 20/month.

You are only paying up to your residual of 62% (if you did 36 months at 12k/year).

So, you'd save 875 * 0.38 / 36 = $9.24/month plus tax so basically $10/month would be your savings on the lease.

I would suggest everyone who ordered it to contact them, even if you purchased a car from a dealer directly that had this option, saying you were misled by this advertising.

How many of you guys would have upgraded knowing what we do now? Home audio I know what I am doing, car audio not so much. I haven't heard the HK in person, am I going to be seriously disappointed? My car is too far along to change now.

Yeah at least there's proof now for those who want to fight it. I've already requested the price of the option be deducted from my final price once I pick up the car. I'm sure it's still an upgrade from the base sound system, but I can't say I would have paid $875 for such a small upgrade.

What do you think the upgrade is worth? $500? Less? I am seeking the full $875 since I am not getting what I was told I was getting and it's false advertising, but if they come back with a discount but not the full amount what do you think would be fair?

I'd push for the whole thing, that's what I plan to do. You paid for an option you're not getting, I don't think that's unreasonable. If they don't reimburse you monetarily, I'd at minimum push for reimbursement in accessories or something. I don't have the final word on what will happen with mine, yet but that's my plan. I emailed my sales rep this morning, who forwarded the info to his BMW rep. In that time the description changed which just further validated my complaint.

Nothing short of them figuring out a way to put the advertised 16 speaker system in the car!

J/k, let's wait and see what they offer people, if anything. Has anybody actually compared the stock system to this mini upgrade system?

I was thinking the same thing, if I can't get the $875 but they make me whole with some sort of discount and a credit to use for stuff I was going to buy anyway (ie floor mats, trunk liner, etc) it's cheaper for them and the same difference to me. As long as I get $875 worth of compensation one way or the other I'm happy.

Did you lease or buy? B/c for those who leased I'd be surprised if it'd be possibly to justify more than the actual amount paid for it during the course of the lease, which would only be just over $330 in most cases versus the $875 full price.
