2014 BMW m235i F22 automatic transmission oil leak

Has anyone here experienced automatic transmission oil leak?

The dealer noticed the transmission oil pan was leaking small amount of oil. Dealer 'fixed' it under warrantee (not sure what they did to it). However, the leaking persisted (at the rear of the transmission oil pan).

Few weeks ago, brought it to a shop and changed the transmission oil pan with new gaskets and oil. However, oil leak persisted.

Any idea what's the cause? Is this a common issue with the ZF auto transmission? What's the next step in fixing this oil leak?

Thanks everyone.

THe tech needs to scrub the tranny in the vicinity of the leak, and then drive the car. This will help pinpoint the leak location. No, it's not common. ZF makes high quality trannies.

Sounds like it could actually be the output shaft seal that's leaking. The oil is running down to the pan making it look like it's the pan leaking. As suggested above, the tech needs to clean everything up and see where it's coming from.

Hi guys. Thanks for the reply. Brought the car to another shop, seems like the leak was between the transmission oil pan and the transmission. Guys at the shop applied some sealant rubber and installed a new transmission oil pan kit. Will bring it to the shop in a few weeks to see if this will cure the leak. Finger's crossed!

have seen the Oil pans leak from time to time. BMW has also had issues with Poures transmission cases where the oil physically sweats through the aluminum - i know it sounds ridiculous but i have seen it before.

I've got P00BC and P112E codes rearing their ugly heads. Also a P1290 wastegate code. Thinking my wastegate solenoid might be stuck . Runs like crap, won't idle, numerous misfires. If I explained all the weird symptoms it gives me, you'd swear I was absolutely crazy ... it's been amazing to me so I can't complain about having these issues. Bout it with 13k on it almost 2 years ago ..... so it's been good to me with all those miles racked up so quick ...
