Driveway shade sails/cloth awnings?

Has anyone had any luck with canvas or other cloth shade sails or awnings? I was thinking of installing some in the driveway to provide a place to park outside without having long term sun/UV paint damage...

I have a 20'x10' tent constructed with aluminum posts covered with a plastic tarp. Just be sure it is well anchored. I bolted the posts to concrete blocks. Probably about 80-100lbs worth of concrete at each of the 8 posts has been enough to hold it secure in gusts upwards of 70mph with no indication that it's going to move on me. I also laid a rubber mat inside so I'm not sitting on dirt.

Although light snow seems fine, I do go out in big storms and keep snow from piling up too deep on the roof so it doesn't tear.

yeah i figure some thing like that, vs a lot of restaurants here in So Cal have been anchoring canvas awnings over a parking lot or alley to create outdoor dining shade. I am assuming I'd bolt it to attachment points on the exterior of my house/garage....

I guess I'd be curious to see if 1) this helps protect cars not parked inside the garage (i.e. paint wise), and 2) how to find/vet good installers?
