Help me figure out which parts are broken/missing on my M235 front bumper
Hi everyone.
I recently purchased a '16 M235. The previous owner installed the genuine M Performance front/rear diffusers. When I put the car on the lift, I noticed that the front part of the engine splash shield wasn't properly secured. I kept looking and I noticed that the front diffuser was connected with drill screws and a lot of parts seem to be broken/missing. I need to figure out which parts are broken/missing. It seems that the whole plastic piece that goes in the middle that is supposed to hold the front part of the splash shield is broken/gone. I took a few pictures, hopefully it helps. If anyone can help with part numbers that'd be greatly appreicated. ![]() ![]() |

I'm having a ton of trouble trying to find the part that you showed as broken. It would also appear that you're missing parts 51718057217 & 51718057218 which sit by in front of each wheel on the underside of the bumper and also attach themselves to that center piece that's broken.
I unfortunately think that the center piece may be discontinued. Here's what I found on realoem: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_9562 It looks like number 9 does it not? |

You're correct about parts 51718057217/8. What happened is, because the engine splash shield wasn't sitting right, its front part fell off one day and it got dragged on the road, which caused one of the pressure lips (the part numbers you mentioned) to fall off as well. You can't see it in the picture, but the left one does exist and I'm only missing the right one - I already ordered it. As for the middle part, yes, it looks like number 9 - that's the only thing that made sense to make as well on realoem, however on any site I looked, including realoem, says this part doesn't belong to this vehicle, or isn't available. I'm not sure why, as it seems to be the part I'm missing. As for the broken parts, if you look closely in the second pictur, you can see a piece of plastic with a hole in it that's cut off. This piece appear to be a part of some inner plastic inside the bumper. What I fear is that it's unreplaceable and I'd have to invest in a new bumper to get it right. |

Did you ever find the part# you were looking for?
I have been going round in circles today looking for the same thing. Closest I can make out is 51758050730 (M adapter for engine encapsulation), but M235i is NOT listed under compatible vehicles Hmmm - does anyone know if this is compatible? I am worried my parts manager will tell me 'computer says no' |
