2-Series Coupe Hood Stuck
As future reference for fellow owners, I just wanted to post a recent experience on my hood latch getting stuck because I found no reference to the F22 specifically.
I went to pop the hood on my 2015 M235 and only the driver's side popped. Played with it for a while and couldn't get anything to happen. Looking online, I saw a lot of videos for the E90 and F30, with solutions involving the removal of the fender splash guard. E90 has access on the driver-side and F30 has access on the passenger-side, so I figured it might be passenger side. After pulling the guard, I found that although you can see the cable buried there's no way to access it. Next, I pulled the driver's side and although I was able to access the cable up under the hood, pulling it - even very hard - did nothing. After trying for an extended period of time, I went back to the forums and found a simple suggestion for a 6-series: lightly push down the hood and have a second person attempt to pull the handle in the interior: BINGO. Once the hood was popped, I used grease on both latches and all works great now. Seems simple, but my preliminary search missed this method and it worked first try. If I can save another 2-series owner an hour or two if they face a similar issue, awesome! |

There is a junction point where the one cable ‘turns’ into 2 cables, it’s a small black box
Open it up and it gives you access to spray silicone lube down the cables. Then put a light grease where the cables slide which will last long |

I've replace the cables on mine and the secondary release still won't pop without someone pulling up on the hood while I work the lever. Even with a new cable, there is still quite a bit of slack on the latch end, both LH and RH sides, although RH feels much looser. (The cable running to the passenger compartment feel taut.) I even tried bending the tabs that hold the end of the cable to take out some of the slack, but it is still very loose. Is there any way to adjust these? there doesn't seem to be an obvious nut or anything like a bicycle cable. Anyone solved this problem?
