Adding an s badge

I'm considering adding an s to the end of my 228i badge. I can buy the oem part for either the e36 or e92. Anyone know anything about the badge size changing since those generations? Also, any recommendations for sticking it to the trunk?

I'm debating between getting another 2 and 0 to spell out 2002 or taking the numbers off entirely. I feel like 2002 would make me kind of a poser but I think it fits with the spirit of the car.

Except it's not like that at all. Most people won't even notice it.

Except it is like that and the only people who will notice will laugh. There is not an S version of the 235/240, a limited run for the 135 was the closest thing.

Rebadging cars is either unnoticed by 95% of the world hence no benefit or noticed and mocked by 5% who realize what they're looking at.

I think most of the few that notice it will appreciate that it's not an m badge, since it's an original idea and it looks more restrained.

Most would just laugh because they know a 228S is not a thing, I know i would. Its your car do whatever you want, but if you are doing it in hopes that other people will like it then you will be disappointed.

All of these convos are like talking to my 4 year old nephew. He knows whatever he wants to do is a bad idea, but he looks for the one pushover adult who doesn't care or isn't really listening to tell him sure go ahead.

I've got Dinan badges (that I earned) that I've never installed - so maybe I'm a little aggressive on the no badge side of things. I'd maybe think about running a 228IS badge if my name was Ian Smith or something and it was an inside joke monogram. Otherwise hard pass.

Did have these made (FJM for dad BEM for me) - but it's inside my door jam and never seen by anyone. So no faux M nonsense for the general public.

Nobody here has even bothered with the questions I actually asked. There's plenty of trashier mods to make fun of over at r/bmw

This would be a good “S” differentiator, especially the red to denote speed, comes all ready to stick on your BMW: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-7-Red-S-E...-/122897375143

Cheap as well and the numbers could also be reused to add extra uniqueness to any BMW.

For OP, here is a thread I made months back as I've noticed an identity crisis with a bunch of wannabe's here in the NW. Don't be THAT guy! https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...light=M+badges I hope that thread knocks some sense into you. Just saying...

I'm the opposite of most and totally debadged my car. I know and love how it drives and that's all that matters.

None of my cars have badges - so much easier for polish and wax! I've pulled badges on S-Audis, AMG-Benzes, etc etc. Stealth is the only way to go.

I'm not putting an m badge on my car, it's the silver s from the 335is. I get that it's not for everybody, but this is definitely being blown out of proportion.

The badges from an e92 335is should be similar in size and font to our badges.

I almost rebadged my M240i to 230is but like it debadged best.
My dad's first question was, so your M240i is a 4.0l V8?

To each their own. You do you. I'm putting M double slat grilles on a non M car.

Pop quiz, what was the original equipment list you got with your 'S' badged car?

I always thought it was for coupe, manual transmission, factory LSD.

I had a lot of fun in an e36 325is.

Dude, don't. BMW put an "S" on the 135i and 335i to imply they had made some cosmetic and performance modifications FROM FACTORY. Did BMW release or will release an S variant of the 228i/230i? NO. We will probably never see another iS, why? Because the "M Performance" vehicle was introduced with the M235i and has continued with the M240i, M340i, M850i.. Not hardcore M cars rather "gap fillers" between base models and true M cars.

Slightly off topic - do you guys remember that dude who built himself an RS4 Avant that Audi never did? He literally had the badge but took it to the factory (he was in Spain if memory serves so close enough) to have the official RS guys give him their approval to do so before sticking it on. That's so bad ass.

THAT should be an interesting read! Something like that I can totally accept, a true build incorporating proper and significant engine, suspension, chassis etc upgrades for it to be labeled something else or equal to its "older' brother.

IND is probably the only one who has come close to building such a car with the M235i "blue ice" that they made.

I'll try and find the article the guy did literally everything. Aside from being 1 of 1 it was exactly the same as the sedan - except the big butt of course.

The RS guys were actually amazed and loved the damn thing.

I think you should put whatever badge you want on your car. Just be prepared to ignore criticism.

I rebadge my x-drives. Every time.

This is not the article that mentions the trip to Audi but this is the guy. My memory was a bit fuzzy. Built his own B5 RS4. What a total fucking badass.
