Disabling Orange Turn Signal

Is it possible to code the orange turn signal to always be off, but illuminate only when the turn signal is used? Is it possible to do this with BimmerCode?

I think you are referring to the marker light. It is possible to code off on the led models but I'm not sure if you can on the incandescent markers. I just checked BimmerCode and there is an option in the FEM module to disable the side marker and it doesn't look like there is a specific requirement as bulb type. My car is a 2018 so mine are led so I don't know exactly how yours are. Hope this helps.

Yes I did it with Bimmercode. Forget the option though.

I'm going to buy bimmercode and try to figure it out. If you end up remembering, lmk!

Stephan (bimmercode guy) is super helpful he can point you in the right direction if you cannot figure it out.

I'd also suggest checking Bimmian for chrome bulbs. They light up orange when lit but chrome when off much better look especially combined with coding for just turn signal. Not the best pic but zoom in and you'll see.

I had the chrome bulbs on several of my BMW's as well and I liked that it got rid of the yoke color in headlight housing.

The coding option is clearly listed under Front Electronic Module (FEM) as marker lights under lighting. See my screen shot.

I've done this with most of my cars. We just got the F22 last weekend - what's involved in getting to the turn signal bulbs with Xenons?

Not sure about LCI cars but on my 2016 there's an access panel in the wheel well that allows you to easily get the bulb. Check your owners manual to make sure yours is the same if newer.

Thanks - ours is a 2015, so similar to yours. Hadn't made it that far in the owner's manual yet, but recognized the amber bulb would have to go as soon as I spied it! On my '06 E46 ZHP coupe with Xenons, the entire headlight unit needs to be released & pulled forward to access the turn signal bulb. The F22 is much easier.

Yes I have an E46 too and didn't mess with it. These just turn wheel full lock and pop out the panel - very simple. Little fiddly if you've got big hands but not complicated at all.

In case you weren't aware or for others who may not change bulbs often, do not touch them with your bare hands. Even if perfectly clean you have oils that can create a hotspot and premature bulb failure.
