Sorry, I meant we have "5AC Automatic high beams" which adds the camera to the rear view mirror so anyone who orders that option will have the mounting location issue due to the extra hardware...

On the other hand, you get the benefit of being able to re-enable HBA... which I'll take any day for having to offset the camera! =)

True true, didn't think of that. Im not a fan of the auto high beams so I didn't spec that but if i would have thought about enabling that when ordering I would def have done it so i totally get where your coming from.

However, need to rethink the mounting location due to the HBA camera which makes mounting directly underneath the mirror impossible. Slightly offset to the right next to the HBA camera with the radar tucked under the mirror should work but need to decide whether to use a permanent mount or the new StickyCup...
Well, decided to go with the StickCup which places the detector further into the cabin than the permanent mount (which puts it right up against the glass) so that the display sits right under the mirror.

Quite pleased with how it turned out and thanks again to the OP for posting the detailed info on the wiring which made this install a breeze!

Here's the view from the driver's seat:

Offset to the right due to the HBA camera assembly blocking the mounting area that was chosen by the OP:

Hey great write up and pics Op and others!

I got the parts to install this yesterday. I just wanted to get some additional insights into removing the plastic cover.

Are there just some clasps of some sort connecting the 2 halves? ie, when I stick a credit card in the middle (from the bottom of the assembly), I'll figure it out? Any tips here would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Praz

You just have to kind of force it between the two sides and wiggle up and down and once one of the clips gives then the other will be easy. Putting to back on is much easier just push both sides back together.

Yes, the clips are not very thick or snap together, they just sort of slide into position. It pops apart very easily.

...And done! Thanks again abirmaher for the DIY instructions. Managed to install the Blend Mount without too much trouble

You're right - the left one popped out first and then the right one came out with a little jiggling.

Quick stupid question - On the blendmount website, there are a lot of them under M235, one is actually on a waiting list! Which is the correct one for a US Spec 2015 M235? also On amazon, I see a Blendmount too, is that the right one?

Thank you!!!

Just installed everything.... Passport 9500ix hanging from my mirror like the car came with it!!!!
Absolutely amazing, I used to get really annoyed by the up and down motion of the detector on suction cups in earlier cars but this is phenomenally stable!

Thank you so much for the DIY! Really dont know how I would have figured out (without burning something up first) where to plug in the Mirrortap.

I just installed the MirrorTap in my M235i Convertible. It was as easy as described with one exception. I pulled the socket up where I could more easily unplug the harness, and it took quiet a bit of fiddling to line the socket up to nest back where it came from. If I did it again*, I might not even unplug the connector.

I haven't done a blend mount, because I'm afraid my fairly chunky V1 will block my view of cross traffic at intersections. (I already find the rear view mirror in most imported cars to sit too low for my liking.)
[*] ... which I plan to, for my wife's 2012 328i. Should I expect it to be wired the same as the 2er?

Should be similar

Just confirming that the mirror tap will only work on cars specced with auto dimming mirrors (or do the necessary wires still run through there)?

I'm having an issue wi my install. First, I didn't get that breaded looking wire. I just got the rj11 wire with an inline fuse. Hooked everything up to my V1 and it was working. Then hooked up my concealed display via a splitter and it worked for a bit then lost power. Probably blew the fuse but
Won't know til I can check for sure (it got dark out). Has anybody come across this issue? Think I can use a higher amp fuse to get all the accessories working? Any thoughts?

UPDATE. the pins weren't making good contact in the molded plug. Going to go a different route other than mess around with the plug.
