m240i vs F10 M5
Is there any person that has driven both m240i (LCI) and f10 m5 (LCI)
How would you compare their driving dynamics Which is more exhilarating? Would you ever consider swapping m240i for f10 M5 or not Please no snide remarks Thanks |

2) When I see the weight difference of ~800# (360 kg) and the wheelbase & overall length differences, I naturally assume the driving dynamics will be quite different. The smaller car is a sports coupe, and therefore more nimble, while the larger car is very much a touring car, and an extremely nice one at that. 3) In the twisties and at the track, I would find the 2 Series to be more exhilarating, simply because it will be much more responsive to driver inputs. Now, if I were making the 2,125-mile run from Chicago to San Francisco (3,425 km), the M5 would be pure bliss. I've done multiple Denver to San Francisco and back to Denver runs in an M6, so I feel qualified to make that statement. In my mind, that's what the big BMWs are built for: autobahn-style blasting across the landscape. There's really nothing like it. 4) No, I would not. The cost alone is a reason for me to stay away from the M5. I'm pretty well finished with five-figure invoices at the shop. Well, I hope I am, anyway! Also, I prefer the driving dynamics of the M240, and it's a much easier car to maneuver about in an urban environment. I also don't do enough 500+ mile trips anymore to have the use for an M5 that I once would have. (Yes...not much use for an M5...I can't tell you how much it hurts to say and admit that. ) If you do choose to make the leap to an F10 M5, please be sure to share your journey with us - we'll want to hear all about it.

This is really a question only you can answer. Do you do a lot of highway driving or back roads? Is it just you in the car or 2-3 other adults?
No one can opine on how you use your car, and that's the key driver here.

Thanks for the replies so far. I do a lot of highway travelling about 12,000 miles per year that I usually use my 2017 G20 520d for with a return of 50-55mpg. Even though my wife has her own SUV (Fiat 500X). The 520d has somehow become the darling of the family for my wife and 2 children. They basically don't want me to swap it.
My m240i is my DD for commuting to work (a round trip of 50 miles). So I do about 10000 miles per year in this. It is a combination of motorway and B road. Nobody else care what I do with it. Thus the thinking of swapping m240i for f10 m5. Even though it would be cheaper to swap the 520d
