XKGlow FiberOptic Lighting
These are a pain in the ass to install, but I'm going to do it the right way. I'm curious where I should tap into power in the doors. Only harness there would be the windows. Anyone done this before?
Basically, where's the best place to tap into power in the passenger and driverside doors.

Interested to see how this turns out. My car was in for service and the dealer gave me an X1 with all the interior lighting and I really enjoyed it. It would look good on our cars as the footwell and panel are very dark at night.
Might be power wires for the foldable mirrors also.

I was jealous of my wife's X5 lighting so I ordered a kit off ebay at about 1/3 the cost of the XK kit. I think I'm going to tuck the "brains" of the unit in the center of the dash behind the stereo. The kit I ordered has plenty of length between the "brains" and the LED's to reach to the doors and dash from this central point. I plan on doing the 2 doors, and then the underside of the two trim pieces on either side of the dash with the HVAC vents in them.
OP, why would you tap power in the door?

I just received my kit this past week. I test fit the fiber optic piece in the door and didn't like how glossy it was. Along with the glossiness, since it's clear you can see the imperfections and anywhere that you bend it, the light brightens. I'm going to try some sandpaper and try to get more of a matte finish and even out the bend brightness. I've only used a flashlight as a light source so far.
The fiber optic line fit well, it may need some 3M tape to keep it in position. I'll wait until I have everything trimmed to fit to determine that.
