Strut braces from M2 for M235i coupe?

Anyone know if the strut tower braces from the M2 (and 228i/M235i convertibles too) fit the M235i coupe? I would assume they do. Seems like a cheap thing to bolt in.

Part numbers are 51647301929 and 51647301930.

I might order these and give them a try , I don't see why it wouldn't work , or why bmw would have included these from the factory

Do you not have any strut brace on US M235i cars? My UK car has...

Pretty sure it's the same part as is standard on the convertible, but I could be wrong.

There are no mounting holes for the parts on the 235 coupe though?

Coupe does not have the forward mounting holes. I compared them when my buddy bought his M2.

Path of least resistance may be contacting KC Design and getting their strut brace. A few of us are running them and quite pleased with the product.

anything can be fabricated to work.

that being said, to get it to work, will take alot of custom modification and fabrication. Look at the m235R race car that use it.

IMO, not worth the hassle.

Bryan,

M235R uses M3/M4 alloy and CF braces - from photo below - It look like it doesn't use the M2/F2x convertible side pressed steel bracings...

If memory serves that's a $4k add-on.

The brackets need to be welded on, I will be doing that in a few weeks, but it looks like an easy and inexpensive mod, you will also need the convertible or M2 front crosslink.

For the M2 style you need two sets of brackets, Strut tower and side fender. Strut tower one is definitely welded from factory, the other one there are a couple holes here, but not sure if you need to weld it.

See parts 5 and 6 attached.

Both are welded on actually if you dont want to weld them another way you can possibly attach them is using BMWs rivet bonding repair method, they use this even when replacing front frame rails or wheelhouse sections. Our f30s actually already have some front upper apron sections that are attached with this glue, its very strong and becomes rock hard, if you dont want to weld your new car you can use the bonding method but the adhesive is not cheap and you need special BMW rivets (although maybe you can get away with regular steel rivets as well as its just a reinforcement plate)

Anyone have any luck welding these on?
