Factory 6MT lube or...
...Redline. I’m tracking my car at VIR at the end of the month. I’ll be changing the oil and filter and flushing the brake fluid. I have 2 quarts of the factory gear lube ready to dump in the box. However, after reading another post about issues with the 6MT, I’m wondering if I should try a Redline fluid.

HDPE with the Tarheel chapter at VIR. No issues but I was reading about owners with 2nd gear synchro issues. BMW has replaced a number of 6MT transmissions because of this issue. I guess I’ll stick with the factory (dealer) lube. Stuff ain’t cheeep.

my shop went with pentosin for the fluid change. They said its thicker so I might notice a slight decline in mpg but should provide better protection. It's been good so far!

Local shop put same weight BG Synchroshift in mine and it was horrible going into first when cold. Went back to OE oil and it shifts smooth again. I would stick with the BMW stuff.

I used RL DT4 when I did it. This was after the recommendation by Chad Moorehead from MSW who is local to me. He builds a ton of the top cars for the SpecE46 series. Shifts were much improved after.

BG scares me. The incentives program they have/had for techs to dispense that stuff.
