Driving distance with broken charge pipe?

So my chargepipe broke and fell off a days a go but I was 2 mins away from my house so I managed to make it back no problem. The problem is that I found a shop that would replace it for a really good price but they are located 40 mins away. If I tow then it defeats the purpose of taking it there since I'd no longer be saving money.

Anyone know if there is a way to rig it so it stays on for one more trip? Or is that just asking for trouble?

EDIT : Bought an exhaust clamp. I'm very skeptical it will work. Should I have gotten a different styled clamp?

I'd just fit it back on and use something like Duck Tape to temporarily hold it in place. If you have a tune, completely shut of boost so it won't pop off again. Make sure you drive slow in ECO mode to lessen the chance of boost kicking in if you don't have a tune and you should be good to go.

Hmm hopefully duck tape will hold. Unfortunately I don't have a tune. And I'm a bit worried the duck tape melts and messes something up. It is a 40 min drive after all, and quite a bit of highway driving.

Everyone should just carry one of these around just in case. . .

Haha honestly if you have a stock chargepipe and any other modification that adds even a little power, I 100% agree. Small preparation that could save you a big head ache

gorilla tape, a clamp for good measure and like stated, eco mode for 40 miles should be fine.. more about not wanting anything to get in there.

what do you mean by "shop that would replace it for a really good price" ? hope you mean upgrade it?.. if not unfortunately your not gonna be saving money.
can you share the price and what there replacing it with?

I still have 3 years of extended warranty left and I'm pretty handy, so no way I'm paying to replace mines with some head-soaking aluminum charge pipe when the dealer would do it for free.

In case it does pop, I keep some clamps and a silicone coupler in my trunk as back up:

Sorry I should have been more specific. I'm replacing it with a vrsf charge pipe. Yes definitely upgrading from plastic haha. I meant I'm saving In labor. Only being charged about $125 but the shop is a bout 40 mins away.

Hmm I wonder if that style of clamp would hold better than the exhaust clamp I have on it currently. Really don't need it popping off in the middle of a 40 min drive which happens tomorrow.

I just installed the VRSF chargepipe and FMIC this past weekend, and it was a breeze. If you have ramps and couple of tools, it's less than an hour job.

Under an hour? Wow that's the first ive heard. Everything I read on the forum says it's a process. Dropping the intercooler and all.

in hindsight i would have happily paid $125 for the install of the vrsf charge pipe. it was not the most fun thing to do alone.. tight fit in every way.

please do update us(the community) on what you did for the 40mile drive. cheers.

The charge pipe was put on within a few hours of dropping the car of, couldn't have asked for a smoother process, the guy I took it to is very knowledgeable. As for the drive I did what someone recommended earlier in the post. A big 4 inch exhaust clamp to hold on the charge pipe and drove in eco making sure to not hit over 2k RPM. Luckily I had someone following me through the drive in case I were to need to stop for any reason. Was able to drive speed limit most of the time. Besides one point where it was a 75mph limit and I was going like 65. Overall very happy. The 125 was well worth it.
