16 inch rims on Canadian 228i
Hi guys!
I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of my 228i and have been looking at my options for winter tires. I was wondering if 16 inch BBS SR rims would fit on my Canadian 228i (non Msport brakes). I plan to pair this with a 195/60R16 blizzak. I tried searching the forums and have only came across another Canadian who bought 16 inch rims (but were of a different brand) and noted that they ended up not being able to fit. The reason I ask this is because getting the 17" combination would increase the price by over $400! Thus I was hoping to be able to save some money. What would be the best way to check if the rims would fit on my 228i? Your advice is really appreciated! Thank you in advance! I have pasted the tech specs of the 16" rim from tirerack. Front and Rear Size:16x7 Offset:36mm Backspacing:5.39" Bolt Pattern:5-120 Rec. Tire Size:205/55-16 Weight:20.0 lbs. Finish:Anthracite Painted Construction:1pc. Low Pressure Cast Finish Warranty:2 Years Manufacturer Part #:X0356155 Manufactured in:Germany |

If you live in Van and your car comes with the Pirelli run flats I think you would be fine without winters. I managed to squeeze 17s on my 235 but they only clear because the rim is beveled at the right spots. 16s are probably a stretch and you should be able to find 2nd hand BMW 17s on kijiji.

Thanks for the reply! My profile is a little outdated. I have actually moved to Calgary and I know that Winter tires are a must out here Edit: Just noticed you were in Calgary too! |
