When I was a teenager, I worked at one of the largest hobby shops in the US and was part of their competitive RC car racing team. All these years later I still have friends and connections in the hobby industry, so when I saw this product, I called a friend of mine (who works for the only US distributor) to ask him if there’s any chance of getting these at a significant discount if purchased in quantity.

This is a 1:64 scale (that’s Hot Wheels car size) fully proportional remote control, ready to run E30 M3- manufactured by HPI (which is a known, high-quality manufacturer of RC products). It's “officially-licensed” by BMW and available in Silver and Red (Ravaglia/Cecotto) and I have the opportunity to order these through my A-Main Hobby contact. These look like they will retail for around $90 (they are not available for order the last I checked). The Group-Buy price would be $75 each (which includes tax, but shipped to a single point- so since I really don’t want to ship a huge number of these things- they’d be available for pick up at SIGFest 2026 which we are working on, but I think will be in September). I would need to order 100 of these to get the $75 price, so I’m gauging interest. Thoughts?

We’re off to a strong start. So far, I have replies from 15 SIG Members with requests for 25 units (so we’re 25% of the way to the 100-unit requirement). I will reply back to each one of you who requested to be put on the Group Buy list, so if you sent me a note indicating interest and did not receive a reply, please drop me another note and let me know how many you would want to order, and which color(s).

Please extend this offer to likeminded friends and enthusiasts, as I believe getting requests for 100 of these cool little things might be a tough task on a list with only 170 participants. These will get even cheaper if we get past 125 units I am told- but I did not explore the details since my initial assessment was that I could likely find homes for 30-40 units, but please- prove me wrong

I should also mention that the Group Buy offer likely will not be extended indefinitely, and so I think I only have a few weeks to try to lock this down before A-Main (the US Distributor) gets sick of waiting for me.

I will send periodic updates; hopefully we can get enough interest to get these ordered.
