One question - did you purposely elect not to put the little "M" emblem back on? Was just wondering if it was possible to remove and replace that emblem after the job, or if I need to buy new emblems in advance so I'll be ready to go after the powdercoat is done.

One more question about powdercoating the stock M235i wheels: is there a tire pressure monitor sensor in the wheel? If so, how do you get to it and where does it attach?

Damn, must not be a very competitive market in Michigan. I charge between 280-400 depending on color

I had mine done in 24 hours for $480 by a shop that has lifts, so there was no need to take the wheels off the car. Place is primarily a wheel repair shop co-owned by a guy who worked for BMW for nearly 20 years before starting the biz, so he knows BMW rims -- and he had two Ferraris, a Lambo Aventador, three Maseratis and a couple of 'vettes in the shop when I was there (if that's not a sign of a reputable place, I don't know what is). Gloss black ... and he even re-applied the M stickers on each rim.

OK want to get this done, how do y'all handle the logistics of getting your four rims to a place to powdercoat? I don't even have jack stands... Might have to do plasti-dip just becasue I can't handle the logistics...

In Carrollton (suburb just NW of Dallas). Really friendly guys up there, too. Ask for Justin or Chris (the ex-BMW guy). I'll post a close-up either tonight or tomorrow.

Based on what I know (read: very little) I don't think this would work, but would it be possible to tape off parts of the wheel, and only plastidip the rest? I'd like to add red accents to my stock 235i wheels, but I feel like the edges of the plastidip left by removing the masking tape would peel once they got exposed to the elements. And I know the tape would have to be removed while the plastidip is wet.

Right front wheel. A little dirty, but still purty. (Yes, regretting the pass on the THP on the options list ... but not that much):

After a day of trolling around the DYC forums, I think I've found enough info. Once it gets warmer out Im definitely doing my wheels in black and red. But yes, the tape ABSOLUTELY must be removed while still wet, or else it will pull up the surrounding layer of dip.
