Comparing an F22 M240i Street-Track Car to an E36 M3 Race Car
I've posted videos from my M240i and an E36 M3 I owned; the purpose of this post is to list the differences between the two cars.
Edit: This pair of cars are so different from one another that it occurred to me that it might be useful for some readers of this thread to be able to see a few of the differences between the two cars. The principal difference may not be evident in the data, and that's that the E36 was much more responsive to driver inputs than is the F22: 1) Turn-in was dramatically crisper (credit aero, bushings, and tires); 2) A credit card's thickness of throttle or brake application created an immediate response (credit 6 throttle bodies, a huge intake, cams, and the Motec tune, along with the AP Racing front calipers); and, of course, 3) The significantly lighter weight of the E36, making it willing to turn in a way the F22 will never be able to. It's an apples-to-oranges comparison, but still one that's fun to make as both unmodified cars fill similar niches in BMW's lineup, while separated by a couple of decades. 2017 M240i 1995 M3 Lightweight

I will be able to make a very similar comparison very soon. I'll have it back from jake in a couple days. I splurged on an aim dash.

Dashes are cool, and as splurges go, they're pretty darn useful.

I also recently found out about this box, which connects to your AiM dash and streams the data live to the pits (technically, should've been a default feature on the AiM, but they do have a hate-hate relationship with software). Excited to try it out in a couple of weeks in a 14-hour race, will report back... |

For drivers new to all this, I've added an image of each car to the original post so that the contrast between the two cars is even clearer.
In the case of the M3 the turnbuckles that supported the splitter hadn't been installed yet, nor had a pair of hood vents that were added soon after the photo was taken.
