my experience mounting 265/30/19 rear tires ,guide for someone who want to mount thi
hi
yesterday i replaced my wheels in my bmw 240i rwd lowered with h&r 20mm springs. i was running 19x8.5 et 38 front toyo 225 35 19 19x9.5et 45 back toyo 255 30 19 This combo doesn't rub anywhere, but rear tires looked very stretched, there wasn't protection for the lip of the wheel so i thinked that will be a good idea to put 265 tires in the rear. i wanted to change wheels so i bought a set of apex ec 7 wheels 19x8.5 et 35 front put 225 35 19 and don't have rubbing but my rear 19x9.5et 43 with pirelli p zero rub a lot, everywhere ! Today i rolled the rear fenders and they still rubb but a lot less. i readed that michelin run wider than other brands ,with my experience i think pirelli too do you know which brand tires are stretched? i still want to run 265 tire in the rear thanks Last edited by gerry25; 06-19-2019 at 11:43 PM.. Reason: i end testing and solve my problem so here is a guide |

Only way to avoid rubbing on 265s is high offset wheels. Need 9.5et47-52 to avoid rubbing in the back when lowered. Might also need a tad of camber but the lowering springs should provide enough. Otherwise, et45 or less has poke and you’d need to be on factory suspension to avoid rubbing.

I ran 19x9.5et44 and second set was 18x9.5et45. Both with 265s. I was on stock suspension so had no rubbing. I definitely had poke that lowering springs would’ve caused rubbing.

The ET43 in the rear is killing you, you need ET47-52 range. I run ET48 (ET58 + 10mm spacer) and my 265 MPS4s clear the back without a problem - I'm also lowered on Dinan Springs.

Milling wheels seems terribly risky, even if you have access to the kind of accurate mills that you need for this. Just b/c you can get it to fit does not mean it will hold together at speed.

Need more offset. I'm running 9.5 et58 with a 5mm spacer and I installed 265 Michelin PS4S a few weeks ago. They're pretty close to flush and look great.

today i installed a sumitomo 265 30 19 in the rear
im not joking when i compare the existent pirelli p zero vs de sumitomo with the same size ,it looks like the pirelli is wider by a lot, the section width of the pirelli is 10.8 and the sumi 10.5in i ran the sumi in the pilot side and the p zero in the passenger side, i did 25km today and don't have rubbing problems with the suminoto obviously the pirelli still rubbing. i don't call victory until i install both wheels with suminoto but i think it will work. today i finally installed the passenger side rear tire, brand suminoto,so now both rear tires are suminotos.
i can say i don't rub anymore if someone want to install 265 30 19 tires in back take note find a narrow tire like the suminoto i think hankook is narrow too. i rolled my rear fenders because of the wider pirellis i had first but they kept rubbing so i advice don't use michelin or pirellis or other wider brand tires, probably rolling fender won't be necessary with narrow tires. i puted springs spacers, they are square pieces of rubber that limit the spring movement,i dont want to try without them but probably aren't needed. my rear wheels are 19x9.5 et 43 so people with et 45 will easily can fit 265 rear tires. i really tested it, i live in mexico and believe me we have a lot of imperfections in the street that put in test that my car dont rub. im on h&r springs that are supossed to drop the car 20mm, i think in real life they droped my car like 25mm in all corners, so people with moderate drop like me won't have problems. hope this post help people like me that dont find a lot of info to mount 265 tires in rear. this post is 100% tested and real ,unfortunately it cost me 2 pirelli p zero that dont fit, time testing and money mounting tires |

18 x 8.5 et 45 with a 5mm spacer and 225 PSS. Gotta go 235, because 4 size variance has created understeer and has zapped some fun. The extra straight line grip is a decent consolation prize. I so wish we could run 255/275!

Interesting point B58togo. Have you gone to 235 in the front yet? I was considering 265s in the rear, but don't want to completely ruin the balance of the car... |

Very helpful! I just ordered 19" apex wheels in the same sizes 19x8.5et35 and 19x9.5et43. I really wanted to run 235 and 265 but played it safe with falken fk510 in 225/35/19 and 255/30/19. I'm lowered on 10mm M Performance springs and will post pics when I get them (currently back ordered)!
