228i or ///M 235i ?
I'm sure many people are debating between the two. If so, we are in the same boat. I've priced out a 228i and it came within a few thousands of the M 235i. The question is: which would you rather have- M 235i w/HK sound or 228i w/M sport line, navigation, power seats & HK sound?
At first I was going to go with a 228i with manual seats because I want the lightest car possible. After some thought I figured the seats don't add that much weight. The M 235i is in consideration because of all the standard things it comes with besides that 322 hp! Then again, coming from a 335i I feel that I rarely have the chance to use all that power. Thoughts? |

For me, I will always prefer a 6 to a 4 cylinder. No contest, the 235.

I would tend to agree, but it's not a question about affordability. It's about choosing between a lighter, less powerful car vs a heavier but more powerful one. I had the 335i for about 7 years. The power was awesome. However, in the last few years I've realized that I didn't use all that power. I am almost set to order a 4 coupe but I'm leaning toward a smaller, more nimble car because I care about driving dynamics.
Before test driving a 428i I thought I could never go with a 4 cylinder engine (coming from a 335i). Then I drove a 428i and was very impressed with the pick up. Honestly, with my daily commute the way it is, 240 HP is plenty. Then again, when I do "need" it, the 322 HP would be great! |

What about a base cayman (you can get a 2014 used for 50k).
275 hp, 6 cylinder engine, and lighter weight then even the 228i.

I need some form of usable back seats...otherwise I would have looked at the Z4. Perhaps I'm getting older but I even considered a 5 series. After driving it though, I felt that it is too big of a car for me. So now it's either the 4 or the 2.
